ship recipient from Brazil. W hile visiting the USA and Canada, she studied the method ology o f teaching foreign languages. Her aim was to use these methods w hile teach ing Ukrainian in Parana, Brazil. • In October, Bohdan Krawczuk helped me check and sort 100 packages o f the UNWLA magazine “ O ur L ife .” This was done at the warehouse in Matawan, New Jersey. I also arranged and sorted archival boxes. • Mailed children’s literature and a one hun dred d ollar donation from the Education Fund to the Preschool at UNWLA Branch No. 14, A tlanta, Georgia. • O rganized a farew ell evening fo r the UN WLA H eadquarters’ office manager, Mila Rohozha. UNWLA honorary President, Ivanna Rozankowskyj, and 24 other UNWLA members were present. • Completed the member file s o f the UNWLA National Board, including honorary mem bers. • Prepared a list of books by Ukrainian wo men authors. These books were donated by Mary V. Beck and Olga Trytyak. • Supervised the move of Scholarship Fund archives from A. Krawchzuk’s home and the “ Shurgard” warehouse to the new UNWLA Scholarship Bureau in Matawan, NJ . Pre pared a fu ll inventory at the new office. • Transferred a hundred cassettes, “ Listen and S ing,” to Luba Bilowchtchuk, chairman of the UNWLA Scholarship Committee, for distribution to children in Ukraine. • In 1998, I sent magazines and books, in cluding the magazine “ Our L ife,” which were donated by Dr. Joanna Ratych, to the fo l lowing libraries: “ Slovanska Knihovna” in Prague and to Diaspora libraries in Kyiv and Lviv. • Slides of drawings from the contest, “ Nature and Us,” were given to the UNWLA Vice President of Public Relations, Iryna Kurovy- ckyj, in preparation fo r the display at the United Nations in New York, NY. • Helped the president o f the UNWLA in her correspondences with the National Board, branches, and regional councils, etc... Also, notified members of the UNWLA Executive Committee about meetings, etc. OTHER PROJECTS In O ctober o f 1996, the Executive Committee approved a plan to mail the UNWLA magazine “ Our Life” to pedagogical institute libraries in Ukraine. In these institutes, the stu dents are m ainly women. We hope they w ill benefit from these UNWLA publications. Mrs. Myroslava and Dr. Dennis Stachiw helped im m ensely in the packaging and organizations of these magazines. The UNWLA National Board commended them with a certificate o f apprecia tion. On November 25, 1996, “ M eest” trans ferred (at a discount) 46 boxes, weighing 1894 lbs., to all Pedagogical Institutes in Ukraine. The boxes contained com plete yearly sets of “ O ur L ife ” magazine, single issues, children’s literature, UNWLA. Convention books, em broi dery manuals, and Christm as carol tapes. We have already received numerous letters o f ap preciation fo r having sent much valuable m ateri als to the ir libraries. The Ukrainian Federal C redit Unions helped make this project possible with generous donations. W e are very grateful fo r everyone’s support. The follow ing is a lis t of donors and the ir financial contributions: Self Reliance, FCU New York, NY $1,000.00 Self Reliance, FCU Newark, NJ $100.00 Ukrainian Federal Credit Union Rochester, New York $100.00 Ukrainian Federal Credit Union, “Osnova” Parma, Ohio $50.00 In August of 1997, the Executive Com m ittee approved a plan to distribute to all UN WLA branches, a cookbook, title d “ Ukrainski Stravy” by Zenovia Terletska (copyright 1971, 1981, 1990). A letter was mailed to all of the branches requesting a $20 donation to cover postage. Each Branch received 36 books, which they were in turn encouraged to sell or distribute at the ir own functions. There was a positive re sponse from UNWLA Branches. Cookbooks were also donated to the delegates of the 24th UNWLA Convention Philadelphia, PA and to the delegates of the 7th Congress of WFUWO in Toronto, Canada. In January of 1997, UNWLA announced the next International Contest fo r children and youth, title d “ Nature and Us.” As a member of the UNWLA Education Com m ittee Chair, volun teered to adm inister this contest. 108 www.unwla.org www.unwla.org
