НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Вересень-Жовтень 2026 33 OUR HEALTH Ihor Magun, MD, FACP How would you like to awaken every morning with your mind seeing opportunities rather than obstacles? This type of outlook is what forms the basis of positive thinking. When positive thoughts drive us forward, our entire out - look on life changes. The major question is, How do we cultivate this mindset, eliminate negative thoughts, and focus on our new mindset? Analyze every situation that may pose an issue by simply stat - ing “what is this trying to teach me” and, by doing so, there is an opportunity for growth. Chal - lenges can be opportunities in disguise. Replace negative thoughts and pessimistic inner monologues with positive con - structive alternatives. We learn more from our mistakes. How we communicate with oth - ers and, more importantly, how we speak to ourselves matter. Words are powerful. How many times have we told ourselves we can’t do something? This already influences our thinking. If we tell ourselves we can figure out a way of doing something, de - Positive Thinking spite our uncertainty, it changes everything. Speak to yourself as if you were a supportive friend. We all replay experiences from the past (which cannot be changed) and think about the future projecting problematic scenarios, all of which most likely will not happen. We need to fo - cus on the present, let go of the past, and let go of the anxiety created by thinking of the future. When we think about the past, we begin to question ourselves, and this affects our current out - look on life. Learn to be present in the mo - ment — a concept we all know as mindfulness. Visualizing positive outcomes is a crucial component of positive thinking. It is like planting a seed in your mind. Every time you vis - ualize success, it is simply a men - tal rehearsal of what you want to accomplish. If you can see your - self succeed, your thinking will change, and your confidence will be raised. You will feel that your goal is achievable. It is important to associate with individuals who are supportive and helpful. Being in the com - pany of negative individuals is harmful. They discourage us and harm our thoughts, leading to a feeling of self-doubt. Be it only one or two individuals, surround yourself with positive people. What we allow in our mind plays a significant role in our thoughts and behavior. Curate your social circle, surround your - self with individuals who uplift you, and set boundaries to dis - tance yourself from negative in - fluences. Intentionally consume books, magazines, podcasts, or movies that carry uplifting messages. Be grateful for all the small accomplishments you achieve as they are just small stepping stones in your path to positive thinking.
