• We encourage UNWLA members to commemo rate the 20th anniversary of the nuclear disaster in Chornobyl by hosting seminars and other programs and by supporting other community programs about this human tragedy. Recommendations on organizational matters: 1. Presidents of Regional Councils must keep in touch with Branches, ensure that Branches work within the framework of UNWLA bylaws, hold monthly meetings, hold annual meetings, and maintain membership lists. 2. Presidents of Regional Councils should maintain and update an address list of all members and distribute a questionnaire about members' inter ests. 3. Presidents of Regional Councils should inform their membership and branches about all circu lars from the National Board and encourage them to implement all the instructions and recommen dations. 4. Each Regional Council and Branch should create an Organizational Committee to assist and sup port the Organizational Chair, especially in the matter of membership drives. Regional Council presidents and Branch presidents are responsible for overseeing the work of their respective Or ganizational Committees. 5. Branches with members in nursing homes and hospitals may apply for exemptions from UN WLA dues for these members. Resolutions pertaining to Cultural Affairs: 1. Inform members of new publications of interest in the United States and in Ukraine. 2. Inform members of cultural events in their com munities. Resolutions pertaining to Press: 1. Continue to promote financial support for Our Life magazine and solicit new subscriptions. 2. Publicize and promote UNWLA programs and projects in other media. 3. Collect articles published about the UNWLA in newspapers, magazine, and bulletins and add such materials to the archival collections of Branches, Regional Councils, and the National Board. 4. Send articles or press releases about UNWLA activities to local newspapers. Resolutions pertaining to Social Welfare: 1. Continue to support programs for the victims of the Chornobyl disaster, grandmothers, and or phans in Ukraine. 2. Support financially all the new and ongoing So cial Welfare programs. 3. Become more aware about the needs and con cerns of aging members of our organization. Visit them in the nursing homes, help them with paperwork, and assist them in getting appropriate social services. 4. Support new immigrants from Ukraine and other parts of the world by giving them information that will help them get established. 5. Find ways to get grants for our programs and pro jects from corporations, agencies, and institutions. 6. Inform the American public at large about UNWLA programs and projects and seek finan cial support if possible. Resolutions pertaining to Education: 1. Form more pre-kindergarten groups, especially to accommodate the children of new immigrants. 2. Inform the community at large about pre kindergarten objectives and agenda. Resolutions pertaining to Arts/Museum: 1. Encourage members to study Ukraine arts. 2. Encourage members to hold art exhibits in libra ries and other prestigious institutions in their ci ties. 3. Find new ways to help The Ukrainian Museum in New York financially. Resolutions pertaining to Stipends: 1. Continue the work of our predecessors. 2. Find new sponsors. Resolutions pertaining to Archives: 1. Continue to prepare UNWLA material to be sent to the Minneapolis Research Center for safekeep ing. Resolutions and recommendation pertaining to Branches-at-Large: 1. Form a nominating committee of the presidents of the Branches to elect a liaison officer. 2.
