ANNUAL PRESS BALL REPRESENTATIVE This year’s representative of OUR LIFE magazine to the Press Ball will be Renata Pjasecky. The annual event will be held on November 7, 1987 in Parsippany, NJ and is spon sored by the Ukrainian Journalistic Association, the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations and with the Mazepa Foundation. Renya is a student at St. John’s Uni versity, where she is taking a degree in education, with the hope of be coming a teacher. She is an active Plast member and a part time teacher at the school of Ukrainian studies in New York City. Her hobbies are reading, skiing, running. She loves music, particularly choral works. COURSES AND WORKSHOPS AT THE UKRAINIAN MUSEUM EMBROIDERY COURSE Embroiderers may learn and expand their skills during this eight session course. They may start from the basic cross stitch or advance to little known stitches and intri cate cut-work techniques while exploring the history and evolution of the styles, techniques, colors, threads and fabrics used traditionally in various regions of Ukraine. Open to adults and children over 10 years of age. Date: October 17 - December 12, 1987 Time: Saturdays, 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. Fee: adults - $45; senior citizens & students over 16 - $40; children 10-16 - free; members - 15% discount. BEAD STRINGING COURSE This is a three session course in the art of making ger- dany (bead-strung necklaces) which were traditionally worn with costumes in various regions of Ukraine. It is designed for adults and children over 12 years of age. Date: November 14, December 5 & 12, 1987 Time: Saturdays, 1:00 - 3:30 p.m. Fee: adults - $20; senior citizens & students over 16 - $15; children 12-16 - free; members - 15% discount. CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS WORKSHOPS Traditional Ukrainian Christmas tree ornaments such as spiders, cradles, stars, mobiles and garlands, made from beads, walnut shells, colored ribbons and paper will be created and thus become a treasured ornament for each participant. Open to children as well as adults during separate two hour sessions. Dates: December 5, 12 & 13 Time: Saturdays & Sunday, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Fee for each session: adults - $4.00; senior citizens & students over 12 - $3.50; members - $3.00; children 7-12 free.
