In addition, many other sites were dam- aged, and historical treasures were stolen and sent to Moscow. An event committee was soon estab- lished, chaired by Roksolana Karmazyn and Ilona Sochynsky, with additional mem - bers Sophia Bilynsky, Anna Kobrynska Es- senhigh, Maria Kohulka-Green, Evelyn D. Hough, Oksana Kukurudza, and Barbara Senzon. They investigated Ukrainian hos - pitals that had suffered attacks, explored sources of assistance in the U.S., and con - sidered which types of medical equipment might be relevant. With the help of Liusia Buniak, chair of the UNWLA National Board’s Social Wel- fare Standing Committee, our branch has decided to send proceeds from the event to the UNWLA, which will send it to the Association Internationale de Coopera- tion Medicale (AICM – Ukraine), based in France and operating in Ukraine, with which the UNWLA has worked since Janu - ary 2022. AICM has been one of the most reliable and effective medical organiza- tions working in Ukraine during this grim time, and it will purchase highly portable Butterfly iQ3 Ultrasound devices, which provide flexible options for delivering life - saving care under extraordinarily challeng - ing and dangerous conditions. To highlight our fundraising event, our co-chair Ilona Sochynsky invited the inter - nationally acclaimed pianist Pavlo Gintov to play at our benefit concert. Mr. Gintov is a native of Ukraine and an active pro- moter of Ukrainian classical music. He has performed at major venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall (New York), Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Teatro Verdi (Milan), and Kioi Hall (Tokyo), and has won multi - ple music awards. For our benefit concert, Mr. Gintov se - lected a program featuring all-Ukrainian composers, presenting the audience with well-loved familiar pieces and with new pieces such as Yuri Povolotsky’s “February Diary.” Mr. Gintov’s playing created a mood of an intimately shared experience, capti- vating all with the beauty of the music.
