НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Травень 2026 11 ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ ВІДДІЛІВ І ЧЛЕНКИНЬ • BRANCH & MEMBER NEWS New Jersey Regional Council Honors a Century of Sisterhood: UNWLA Centennial Celebration Nadia Nynka , President, New Jersey Regional Council On February 1, a historic milestone was marked with elegance and pur - pose as the New Jersey Regional Council celebrated the centennial of the UNWLA. The event, held at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey in Whippany, brought together 130 guests to honor 100 years of advocacy, humanitarian service, cultural preservation, and the indomitable spirit of Ukrainian women in the diaspora. The ceremony began with the tradi- tional “Pryvit” greeting, demonstrat - ing the warmth of Ukrainian hospital- ity, and continued with vocalist Irena Savchyn-Doll, past president of Branch 75, performing the national anthems of Ukraine and the United States, fol- lowed by the UNWLA anthem. Following the opening ceremony, NJ Regional Council president Na - dia Nynka warmly welcomed the attendees. In her opening remarks, she recalled the UNWLA’s journey since its founding in 1925, empha- sizing how the organization has evolved from a grassroots network of immigrant support to a powerful global force for the protection and assistance of Ukrainians. The centennial's significance was echoed by a distinguished group of guest speakers and public officials, including: • Ilona Havronska, Ukraine’s Dep- uty Minister for Social Policy • State Senator Anthony M. Bucco • State Assemblywoman Aura Dunn • Morris County Councilmen and Mayors of Hanover Township and Randolph • Natalia Pawlenko, President of the UNWLA The traditional Ukrainian “Pryvit” (welcome).
