20 OUR LIFE • May 2026 ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ ВІДДІЛІВ І ЧЛЕНКИНЬ • BRANCH & MEMBER NEWS The big surprise of the evening was the second book, the 50th Anniversary of Branch 118 History Book, which was masterfully put together by Olia Hirka, with coordinating efforts and numerous historical materials provided by Martha Noukas. Juliana Villacorta graciously proofread the final copy and gave the blessing to go to print. The book will now serve to document the 50-year his - tory of Branch 118! The official program began with a short greeting by Juliana Villacorta, who recognized the special guests in attendance, welcomed everyone, and thanked the 150 guests who had come to support the celebration and fundraising event. Juliana announced that, as it does for every event, the branch had a monetary goal for the evening: to collect the funds needed to outfit five Ukrainian women soldiers with uniforms through the aid of Zemliachky. She announced that all proceeds from the silent auction would go directly to this cause, and she encouraged everyone to visit the silent auction table. Juliana then handed the microphone over to Father Mykola Dovzhuk, pastor of Pokrova Ukrain - ian Catholic Church in Houston. Father Myko- la thanked the women of Branch 118 for their hard work and the numerous contributions that the branch has made to the parish grounds and Ukrainian community in Houston. Father Mykola then gave a blessing, and everyone was invited to enjoy the delicious buffet dinner. As guests completed their meals, Juliana an- nounced that she had a special greeting for the branch: a short video prepared by UNWLA Pres- ident Natalia Pawlenko. Following the video greeting, Juliana presented Martha Noukas with a UNWLA 50-year pin and a Riedel wine glass etched with the UNWLA logo, to honor her for her 50 years of service and membership in the UNWLA. Branch vice-president Halyna Seniw greeted guests and, on behalf of all branch mem - bers, thanked Juliana for all her hard work and the success of the branch. Juliana then called several branch members to the front of the stage, where she presented each of them with a certificate and UNWLA 25-year pin for their 25 years of membership and service. Honored guest Vitalii Tarasiuk, Ukrainian Consul General in Houston, congratulated the UNWLA on its centennial and congratulated Branch 118 members for their dedication in upholding and Violinist Volodymyr Kotsiouruba provided classical music for the evening.
