12 OUR LIFE • May 2026 ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ ВІДДІЛІВ І ЧЛЕНКИНЬ • BRANCH & MEMBER NEWS The New Jersey officials presented formal proclamations to the Regional Council, officially recognizing the UNWLA’s centu- ry of contributions to New Jersey's civic and cultural fabric. Following a delicious luncheon catered by MishMash, guests were treated to a video presentation highlighting a century of service. The retrospective highlighted the UNWLA’s critical role in establishing the Ukrainian Museum, providing educational scholarships, and carrying out its tireless humanitarian mis- sions — work that remains as vital today as it was a century ago. A poignant highlight of the afternoon was the formal recog- nition of the grassroots leadership that sustains the organiza- tion. Nadia Nynka presented Certificates of Appreciation to the Irena Savchyn-Doll, past president of Branch 75, performed the national anthems of Ukraine and the U.S., followed by the UNWLA anthem. The awards honored the tireless dedication of the members who serve as the backbone of the UNWLA, coor - dinating the humanitarian, cultural, and educational efforts that define the Soyuzianky mission. The celebration was enriched by a musical program that showcased the beauty of Ukrainian vocal traditions, featuring the Branch 65 (New Brun- swick) Choral group Dzerelo, whose harmonies resonated with the themes of heritage and hope, and a stirring solo performance by vocalist Valeriia Vovk that captivated the attendees. As the New Jersey Regional Coun - cil looks toward the next century, the February 1 celebration served as both a tribute to the Soyuzianky who came before and a call to action for the gen- erations to follow. In a time of immense challenge for the Ukrainian homeland, the unity displayed at this centennial celebration proves that the UNWLA’s mission of Advocacy, Education, Cul - ture, and Care is stronger than ever.
