НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Березень-Квітень 2026 25 ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ ВІДДІЛІВ І ЧЛЕНКИНЬ • BRANCH & MEMBER NEWS Clergy, scholars, artists, and community members came together to honor the millions of victims and reaffirm a shared commitment to remembrance, truth, and justice. Featured speakers included Dr. Kseniia Bo - rodin, Fulbright Scholar and researcher at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv and lecturer at Michigan State University, and Dr. Matthew D. Pauly, Associate Professor of His - tory at Michigan State University and author of Breaking the Tongue: Language, Educa - tion, and Power in Soviet Ukraine, 1923–1934. Their remarks placed the Holodomor within the broader framework of Soviet repression and the destruction of Ukrainian language and culture. A moving musical tribute was presented by Julian Kytasty, renowned bandurist, composer, and Honored Artist of Ukraine, who embodied the living tradition of the kobzars — guardians of Ukraine’s historical memory. The commem - oration was held at the Ukrainian American Archives and Museum in Hamtramck. The commemoration was especially mean - ingful this year, as Michigan Governor Gretch - en Whitmer officially proclaimed November 2025 as Ukrainian Holodomor–Genocide Re - membrance Month in the State of Michigan.
