НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Січень-Лютий 2026 3 Наталя Павленко Natalie Pawlenko Чотири роки незламности — століття покликання Коли цей журнал «Наше Життя» потрапить до ваших рук, ми наближатимемося до скорботної дати — 24 лютого, четвертої річ - ниці повномасштабного вторгнення pосії в Україну. Чотири роки — це довгий час життя під постійною загрозою. Чотири роки пові - тряних тривог, перерваного дитинства, не - спокою матерів і батьків, які змушені роби - ти важкий вибір. Чотири роки незламности й стійкости, яка не зникла навіть тоді, коли ціна боротьби стала ще вищою. Поки я пишу ці слова, багато регіонів Укра - їни залишаються без електроенергії, тепла та води. Температура опустилася нижче нуля. І все-таки Україна тримається. Не тому, що боротьба легка, а тому, що прагнення жити вільно сильніше за страх. Лютий — це також місяць народження Лесі Українки, однієї з найвидатніших українських поетес і мислительок. Її слова нагадують нам, що страждання не принижує гідности, а муж - ність — це не відсутність труднощів, але свідо - ме рішення піднятися над ними. Символічно, що її день народження і ця трагічна річниця назавжди поєднані: один — як нагадування про культурну душу України, інший — як ви - пробування її виживання. Цей рік є особливо значущим для нашої ор - ганізації. Продовжуючи відзначати 100-річчя СУА, ми згадуємо, що наші засновниці також проживали в часи невизначености. Вони організовувалися, навчали й відстоювали українську справу тоді, коли майбутнє Укра - їни було невизначеним. Вони розуміли, що збереження культури й донесення правди за межами України є формами спротиву. На четвертому році цієї війни завдання, що стоять перед нами, не зменшилися — вони розширилися. Потреби стали глибшими, травми — складнішими, шлях до відновлен - ня — довшим. Однак наша місія залишаєть - ся незмінною. Ми адвокатуємо. Ми навчає - мо. Ми зберігаємо культуру. Ми піклуємося про найуразливіших. Ми робимо це не за звичкою, а з переконання. Історія запам’ятає ці роки. Вона згадає тих, хто стояв твердо, хто говорив правду, хто об - рав дію замість байдужости. Як українські жінки і як берегині столітньої місії, ми несе - мо вперед і пам’ять, і відповідальність. Нехай ми й надалі будемо гідними тих, хто був до нас, і непохитними у нашій відданості тим, хто прийде після нас. Four Years of Endurance, One Hundred Years of Purpose By the time this issue of Our Life reaches your hands, we will be approaching a solemn date: February 24, the fourth anniversary of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Four years is a long time to live under constant threat. Four years of air-raid sirens, of interrupted childhoods, of mothers and fathers making impossible choices. Four years of resilience that has not faded, even as the costs have grown heavier. As I write these words, many parts of Ukraine are without power, heat, or water. Tempera - tures are below zero. And yet, Ukraine endures. Not because the struggle is easy, but because the will to live freely is stronger than fear. February is also the month that Lesia Ukrain - ka, one of Ukraine’s greatest poetesses and thinkers, was born. Her words remind us that suffering does not diminish dignity, and that courage is not the absence of hardship, but the decision to rise above it. It feels fitting that her birthday and this tragic anniversary are forever linked — one a reminder of Ukraine’s cultural soul, the other a test of its survival. This year is especially meaningful for our organization. As we continue to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the UNWLA, we are reminded that our founders also lived in un - certain times. They organized, educated, and advocated when Ukraine’s future was unclear. They understood that speaking truth beyond Ukraine’s borders was an act of resistance in its own right. Four years into this war, the work before us has not diminished — it has expanded. The needs are deeper, the trauma more complex, the recovery longer. And yet, our purpose re - mains steady. We advocate. We educate. We preserve culture. We care for the most vulner - able. We do this not out of habit, but out of conviction. History will remember these years. It will re - member who stood firm, who spoke up, and who chose action over indifference. As Ukrain - ian women, and as stewards of a century-old mission, we carry both memory and responsi - bility forward.
