2026 13 some activities was sharing our experiences, both the positive and the difficult aspects of being a Ukrainian woman, mother, and community member in the U.S. It was interesting and heartwarming to hear how much both groups — recent arrivals and WWII refugees — have in common. We all share our love for Ukraine and have similar values and objectives. Two hours passed very quickly because the narrations represented a slice of the lived history of Ukraine and its people. The sto - ries of Branch 96 members covered the 20th century in Ukraine and post-WWII immigration, while Branch 142 members drew a picture of the current living history of Ukraine and the experiences of the newest arrivals. Group photos were imminent, thanks to photogra - phers Kwitka Iwanyckyj and Valeria Zaihrayko, followed by a rich feast of tasty foods and refreshments — typical Ukrainian hospitality. As always, members generously donated baked goods, added to the delicacies provided by our Hospitality Chair, Iryna Melnyk. Everyone had an opportunity to mingle, converse, and share stories while enjoying their repast. A surprise creative “thank you” fun activity organized by Branch 142 had everyone decorating personalized tote bags. The final touch was a delightful singalong to piano accompaniment by Myrosia, who provided print - ed songbooks with many favorite songs. A special treat was the unique repertoire of Branch 142’s Dzherelo en - semble, who serenaded us with their melodic voices. After five hours of fun-filled activities, the event ended with new friendships, pleasant memories, and inspira - tion for other branches to organize similar events. The rewards are truly multifold.
