“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, СІЧЕНЬ 2012 WWW. UNWLA.ORG 31 YM@UM Holds Inaugural Event by Unia Knarvik Among the highlights of the evening was a guided tour of the Museum's Invitation to a Wedding exhibition. The Ukrainian Museum in New York was "the" place to be on Friday evening, N o- vember 4, 2011, as the Museum held its first YM@UM (Young Members at The Ukrainian Museum) event. Organized to introduce young adults to the Museum and its many exhibits and pr o- grams, the event attracted more than 55 atte n- dees, the majority of whom became new me m- bers. With music selected by DJ Matej Liteplo playing in the background and surrounded by the art and culture of their ancestral heritage, guests mingled, reconnected with old friends, made new acquaintances, and feasted on a scrumptious buffet with many items provided by the East Village Meat Market and the Clois t ers restaurant. New members received a vouc h er for t he Vese l- ka restaurant on the trendy B o wery as well as a raffle ticket; the prizes i n cluded a di n- ner for two at Soyuzivka (donated by the Ukrainian National Association) and gift certificates for Starbucks, Veselka, and the East Village Meat Market. _______ _________ __ ___________ The inaugural YM@UM event was a resounding success, with more than 55 young adults enjoying the evening at New York's Ukrainian Museum. Among the highlights of the evening were guided tours of two of the Museum's exh i- bitions — Invitation to a Wedding: Ukrainian Wedding Textiles and Traditions and The Worlds of Sviatoslav Hordynsky . Throughout the evening, the Museum's director, Maria Shust, the presi dent of the Board of Trustees, Mykola Darmochwal, and several trustees and members of the Board's Public Relations and Membership committees circulated among the attendees, answering a wide range of questions. They were also pleased to hear so much positiv e feedback.
