The event, orga- nized by Halyna Keller and Iryna Buczkowski, was dedicated as a fundraiser for the children of Ukraine whose fathers were either killed or wounded during the battles against the Russian in- vaders in Eastern Ukraine. She emphasized that our organization focuses much of its energy, devotion, and humanitarian contributions to the Ukrainian American commu- nity and Ukraine which it holds dear. Among those introduced was the past president of Branch 88, Christine Shwed, who presented her soon-to-be published book. Entitled Stories for Every Season, the book is a compilation of beautifully illustrated stories published in Our Life between 2008 and 2011 while Ms. Shwed was serving as UNWLA’s Education Committee Chair. The purpose of the stories at that time was to en- rich the curriculum of UNWLA branches that were running svitlychky (preschools) with new and col- orful materials. The book is being published with the intent of acquainting a new generation of chil- dren these stories. Additional information about this project will be forthcoming.
