“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ТРАВЕНЬ 2015 WWW.UNWLA.ORG 31 Collage by Ola Movchan Novak UNWLA Branch 124 of St. Petersburg, Florida, Holds a Pysanky -Making Workshop On Sunday, March 8, 2015, seven members of Branch 124 re- mained after the monthly meeting for a pysanky workshop. The Branch’s president, Olya Czerkas, and members Irene Krywusha and Ola Movchan Novak assisted the other members in creating original pysanky , thereby carrying on this beautiful Ukrainian tradition. The step-by-step strategy was patiently explained and de- monstrated by our experienced in- structors. Colorful dyes were avail- able, as well as ideas for designs and an explanation of each motif. The final product is proudly pre- sented in the collage opposite. The participants pictured are (clock- wise): Vera K. Swade (Vice- President), Ola Movchan Novak, Olya Czerkas (President), Irene Thompson, Ludmyla Semeniuk, Irene Krywusha, and Eva Rein- hardt. Joyous Easter Baskets from Branch 124 (St. Petersburg, FL) Members of UNWLA Branch 124 of St. Petersburg, Florida, met on Palm Sunday (March 29, 2015) in the Epiphany of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall to make a total of seventeen tradi- tional Ukrainian Easter baskets: fifteen for home-bound, elderly, or ill folks in the community and two additional baskets for two young boys who had recently suffered a family tragedy. Individual members donated various items for the baskets (sausage, cheese, butter, candy, and boiled as well decorated eggs). In addition, each basket included a traditional decorated Paska baked by Claudia Korsun. This effort is an annual event that has been done by Branch 124 for many years in keeping with the overall UNWLA mission of “Uniting women of Ukrainian descent and affilia- tion in service, friendship, and dedication.” Ola Movchan Novak, Branch 124 Member Standing (L-R): Irene Thompson, Irena Krywusha, Orysia Petrina- Johnson, Irene Badiak, Father Roman Badiak, Martha Climer, Maria Bazylak, Irene Popovich, Marion Serna, Eva Reinhardt, Ola Movchan Novak, and Christina Leddy.
