“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ЧЕРВЕНЬ 2014 WWW.UNWLA.ORG 21 CHORNOBYL EXHIBIT ON EARTH DAY IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA BY UNWLA BRANCH 56 “Earth Day” was celebrated on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Oscar Sherer State Park in Osprey, FL, with interesting exhibits on conservation and the protection of the earth. This year, as with last year, the Ukrainian-American community of Southwest Florida, under the direction of Nellia Lechman and Dr. Bohdan Bodnaruk, set up an information booth about the Chornobyl Nuclear Disaster in Ukraine, which occurred on April 26, 1986. Members of Branch 56 of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America and the Ukrainian community at large shared information about the Chornobyl disaster and its brutal after-effects. We also took the opportunity to inform visitors about current events in Ukraine since they were well aware of the political crisis going on in Ukraine. Despite the heat, all the volunteers at the Chornobyl booth were satisfied with this annual event which highlighted principal events in Ukraine’s history. Photos by John Susla and Bohdan Bodnaruk ЧОРНОБИЛЬСЬКА ВИСТАВКА НА ДНІ ЗЕМЛІ У ФЛОРИДІ На відзначення Дня Землі в неділю, 27-го квітня ц.р. в стейтовому парку ”Oscar Sherer” українська громада південно-західньої частини Флориди мала нагоду виставити інформації про Чорнобильський нуклеарний вибух в Україні, який стався 26-го квітня 1986 р. Організатори Чорнобильської виставки Неля Лехман і д-р Богдан Боднарук подбали про відповідні експонати, які б зацікавили гостей прийти ближче до виставлених книжок, летючок і жетонів про Чорнобильську трагедію та загальні інформації про Україну під сучасну пору. Тому що гості дня знали про сучасну політичну кризу в Україні, вони висловлювали співчуття україн- ському народові у цей нелегкий час. Незважаючи на високу спеку того дня, всі добровольці Чорнобильської виставки мали велике задоволення, що могли розповісти американським відвідувачам не тільки про Чорно- бильську трагедію, але також про загарбницьке зусилля північного сусіда України. Успіх дня завдячується Ареті і д-ру Юрієві Барановським, Ліді та Томові Гауземан, Уляні Рондяк, Славі Малюк, Лесі Попель, Анн-Марі і Іванові Суслам, Оксані Лев і Лідії Білоус. проф.
