Techno logy was incorp o- rated into the Art Show. Digital photographs brought many distant and beautiful places into the world of the beholder. Adorable wooden Christmas decorations reminded us of the upco m- ing holiday season. Authors displayed their books and brought their creativity to life though words and pictures . The korovai , a very important part of every Ukrainian wedding, was on display along with baked breads. All was ready. The doors opened a nd our 1 st Art Show began. Guests were graciously gree t- ed with smiles, art, wine, cheese , and appetizers. Our UNWLA sisters from North Port, Florida, Branch 56, their spouses, families and friends, traveled a great distance to support us and this important fundraiser. Guests from the St. Peter s- burg and surrounding Ukrainian and American communities also continued to support our artists and this fundraiser financially and by their pos i- tive comments. Many of the artists and members of our branch donated beau tiful pieces of art for a raffle. Guests and artists alike anticipated winning and claiming one of the prizes as their own. The a t- mosphere was cheery and uplifting . Guests a d- mired the different art forms, conversed with the artists about their work, enjoye d an evening with friends, and most importantly, made an interes t- ing discovery. They discovered that the women of our community, the heart and soul of the family, the hard workers , and individuals with helping hands, are also gifted and talented artists . T he secret is out. The 1 st Art Show by Branch 124 was not only an important fundraiser for the UNWLA Scholarship Fund, but also an evening of awar e- ness, an evening when the artistic talents of our women and men were recognized and admired.
