28 OUR LIFE • June-July 2026 Branch 56 Distributes Easter Baskets to 25 Recipients ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ ВІДДІЛІВ І ЧЛЕНКИНЬ • BRANCH & MEMBER NEWS This past March, the Branch 56 Social Welfare Committee, led by chairperson Halya Lisnyczyj, rallied to prepare Easter baskets. They baked babkas and assembled beautiful dec - orated baskets at St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Religious and Cul - tural Center in North Port, FL. The baskets were distributed to 25 members of the hromada who are no longer able to attend this active community’s events and activities. The re - cipients — many in senior housing or assisted living facilities in Sarasota and Charlotte Counties — appreciated being re - membered at this sacred time of year and relished the foods lovingly prepared by the Committee. Halya Lisnyczyj was joined by Tania Schepel and Olya Babchuk in baking babkas and in assembling and distributing the Easter baskets. Committee members Roxolana Saciuk, Le - sia Popel, Roma Lisovich, and Inia Tunstall helped arrange the baskets. Branch president Bohdana Puzyk donated beautiful pysanky to include in the baskets. As she has for the past 15 years, branch member Lidia Bilous designed beautiful cards to accompany each basket. Additionally, the Social Welfare Committee received donations of sweets from Nusia Mariani, who is one of our Branch 56 founding members, and cash to offset the costs of the project this year.
