НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Червень-Липень 2026 23 ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ ВІДДІЛІВ І ЧЛЕНКИНЬ • BRANCH & MEMBER NEWS Remembering the Holodomor and Educating Others Through Kindness Branch 124 members and the community joined together on Sun - day, November 23, 2025, at Epiphany of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church to remember those who perished in 1932–1933 during the Holodomor. A painting representing the Holodomor was displayed at the front of the church, reminding all about those devastating times in Ukraine. A Holy Liturgy and Panachyda were served by Reverand Bohdan Bar - ytsky. The church choir, under the direction of our Soyuzianka Zinoviia Zakovorotna, filled the church with beautiful, solemn songs honoring and remembering the victims of the genocide. Many communities across the U.S. solemnly remember the Holo - domor in November. During the month, our members took opportu - nities to educate others about the tragic events in Ukraine. We also wanted to focus on helping others and making a positive impact on our community. Under the direction and lead of Daria Markiw, a long-time branch member, our branch and the Ukrainian community of St. Petersburg held a food drive during the entire month of November. Daria organ - ized the event and was the facilitator of the project. Boxes of non-per - ishable food were collected for those in need. Daria contacted local organizations and churches regarding the distribution of the dona - tions. Nataliia Kelba and Irene Badiak prepared a short informative sheet about the Holodomor, which was distributed in churches and food dis - tribution centers with the non-perishable food. Branch 124 members and the community worked together during this important education - al project. We know that making a difference can take shape in many ways!
