UNWLA Branch 98 of Holmdel/Middle - town, NJ, started the New Year with its annual meeting on January 23, 2013. The branch was honored to have Olga Trytyak, who has served the UNWLA in multiple roles over many years and has the present title of Honorary Member, preside over th e meeting. The agenda included the reporting of the past year’s activities by the officers and committee chairs, as well as the biennial election of officers. Elected for another two - year term were Victoria Mishchenko, President, Elizabeth Barna, Vice - Pr esident, Orysia Jacus, Treasurer, and Irene Krawczuk, Secretary. Committee chairs included Nadia Jaworiw, Scholarship, Maria Il czen ko & Maria Polanskyj, Auditing, and Luba Bilowcht - chuk, Social Welfare. Notable events of 2012 included the add i- tion of two new members to the branch as well as fundraising for the Scholarship Program with a festive Stella Dot jewelry event. Both activities were highlighted in separate articles in Our Life during the year. Member Maria Polanskyj (N a- tional Scholarshi p Committee Chair) thanked branch members Luba Bilowchtchuk (Branch Chair), Nadia Jaworiw, Orysia Jacus, Anna Krawczuk, and Victoria Mischenko, who have continued to volunteer many hours of service to maintain the success of this worthwhile program. Our br anch alone, through renewals of sponso r- ships, donations, and fundraising, was able to award 38 scholarships, totaling $10,460.00 du r- ing 2012. We are proud to announce that 2012 has been our most successful year thus far. Branch 98 enjoyed festivities duri ng 2012 by hosting its annual picnic at the home of Jurij and Orysia Jacus and its Christmas Party at the home of Stan and Halyna Jakobowycz. Member birthdays were another cause for celebration; our tradition includes closing meetings with a tasty dessert and singing “Happy Birthday” and “Mno - haya Lita.” In closing the annual meeting, the branch was able to honor the Presiding President, Olga Trytyak, in this very same way. So, thanks and congratulations went out to Mrs. Try tyak on the celebration of her 90th birthday! A delicious cake was enjoyed by all.
