12 WWW. UNWLA.ORG “НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ЛЮТИЙ 2013 Christyna spoke of Lev the artist. She had met Lev while attending Julliard Prep and soon came to admire h im for his technical expertise. She was inspired by his clear diction and dramatic stage pr esence. However, Lev had the great est emotional impact on her when, as a graduate st u- dent, she had an opportunity to perform alon g- side him in Lysenko’s operetta Nocturne . Dr. Wolodymyr Korol spoke of Lev the p a- triot. He had met Lev at the Lysenko Concert Hall in Lviv and was inspired by his patriotism. He recalled how during the war Lev was th e star singer in a traveling musician s ' group that toured DP camps , lifting the spirits of Ukrainian imm i- grants. The highlight of the event , however, was the screening of a very professionally produced documentary of Lev’s life. The documentary began wit h a short na r- rative delivered by Anya, Lev’s daughter a nd the main driving force behind the production of this film. She recalled that when she was young , her father would always ask her to sing with him , but she had other things to do. Regretting that s he had never complied with his request , Anya en ga g- es in an emotional rendition of one of her father’s favorite songs, “Hai shumlyat” — a duet so maste r- fully sung today by Anya, and many years ago by Lev. The audience was mesmeriz ed by Lev’s beautiful bari tone as they watched and listened to a narrative focused on Lev’s life and his extensive musical accomplishments. They were captivated by the documentary that artistically interlaced Lev’s recorded songs with pictures of his family and his performances. It was truly a celebration of Lev’s life that brought back memories to all t hose who knew him as well to those who had witnessed his dramatic performances. After the viewing , Lidia introduced Lev’s wife Maria and daughter Anya , without whom this documenta ry would not have been possible. Both wife and daughter thanked the audience for their participation. Also in attendance were Lev’s granddaughter Nata lia and his great - grandson Alexs ander. At the conclusion of this unique, enjoy a- ble and successful gala event , guests had the o p- portunity to share their thoughts over hors d’oeuvres, pastries, wine and coffee. Коли був створений Союз Українок Америки у 1925 р., то були близькі віносини між СУА і Національною Радою Жінок /США, але спочатку СУА став членом Ґенеральної Федерації Жіночих Клюбів у 1948 р., а відтак у 1952 році СУА став членом Національної Ради Жінок/ США. 2. Коли говорила про Світову виставку в Чікаґо 1933 р ., то не сказала, що Архипенко був архі - тектом українського павільйону, лише, що його здобутки найновішої ери були виложені в павіль - йоні, а також літами витворена культура українського мистецтва. 3. Не було сказано, що Надія Шміґель, д - р Христина Дурбак та Ірина Куровицька репре зен - тують Україну в ООН. Україна репрезентує себе сама. Мґр. Н. Шміґель, як член СУА входить до Світової Федерації Жіночих Організацій (СФУЖО), д - р Х. Дурбак є президенткою організації World Information Transfer, Inc ., а І. Куро вицька є головним репрезентантом Міжнародної Ради Жінок вже понад 13 років. Всі три організації мають консультативний статус в Економічній і Соціяльній Раді в ООН як неуря - дові організації.
