24 “НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ЧЕРВЕНЬ 2011 UNWLA BRANCH 56 IN NORTH PORT, FLORIDA CELEBRATES 20 - YEAR ANNIVERSARY Anna Macielinski, Maria Nawarynsky, Marianna Zajac, Roxolana Yarymovych, Oksana Lew, Roma Guran . The Milena Rudnycky Branch 56 of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA) in North Port, Florida , celebrated its 20 - year anniversary on Sunday March 27, 2011 , with a luncheon and reception at J acaranda West Golf and Country Club. Guests were welcomed by Oksana Lew, president of Branch 56, and by Roxolana Yary - movych, mistress of ceremonies for the affair. The g uest of honor was UNWLA President Marianna Zajac, who was accompanied by her husband Myron. Also present at the event were Anna Macielinski, UNWLA’s second vice president , and her husband Ostap; Olha Czerkas, president of Branch 124 in St. Petersburg, Florida ; and Maria Nawarynsky, founding member and first president of Branch 56. Nadia Iw anczuk led everyone in the UNWLA prayer , Rev. Dr. Severyn Kovalyshin offered a blessing, and Anna Macielinski offered a toast for the occasion. After the opening prayers and toast, everyone observed a moment of silence for all the departed members. Follow ing a delicious luncheon , Mistress of Ceremonies Roxolana Y arymovych introduced the founding members in attendance, while Olha Hron and Irena Zyznomyrska presented each of these ladies with a red rose. Those being honored were Maria Nawarynsky, the first p resident of the newly formed branch; Irena Radzykewycz; Nadia Iwan - czuk; Alexandra Yaskiw; Halyna Nestorowycz; Anna Mariani ; and Maria Hrab. Also recognized were past and current presidents of the North Port Branch: Maria Nawarynsky, Marika Bilynsky Soltys , Orysia Swystun, Chrystia Lazor Stecyk, Iwanna Holowata , and Oksana Lew. Honorary national members Maria Nawarynsky, Iwanna Ratych, and Iwanna Marytinetz; branch honorary presidents Maria Nawarynsky, Orysia Swystun , and Iwanna Holowata; and branch honorar y members Maria Chornij and Nadia Iwanczuk were also recognized for their service. At this point in the program, Oksana Lew announced that Branch 56 had selected Lubow Ingram as its newest honorary member . Ms. Ingram received this distinction in recognitio n for her many years of dedication and service to the musical endeavors of our branch. The featured speaker for the event , UNWLA President Marianna Zajac, spoke of Milena Rudnycky, our branch patroness, a nd Marusia Be c k and her work during the early years of the UNWLA .
