Martha Noukas, president of Branch 118 in Houston, Texas, recently informed us that the UNWLA’s Retention and Recruitment Program is alive and well in the Lone Star State. Branch 118 now has 24 members. In an email communiqué, Ms. Noukas wrote: “I am plea sed to announce that Branch 118 has eight new members! There was no miraculous method used to get these ladies to join. Just a little time. I took advantage of a community function and extended invitations to women who had previously been asked to join. Th is time they did. At our annual meeting, Hannah Uschak volunteered to serve as Membership Chair for 2010. She reminded current members to renew membership and send in their dues.” In lieu of flowers, UNWLA Branch 118 of Houston, Texas, is donating $30 0 to Our Life Press Fund: $100 to honor the memory of Anna Kusievich Kalba, mother of UNWLA President Marianna Zajac $100 to honor the memory of Jaroslaw Kurowyckyj, husband of Honorary President Iryna Kurowyckyj. $100 to the honor the memory of Emilia Antoniw, former member of Branch 118.
