An accomplished journalist and writer, M. Adams has been a member of the editorial board of Good Housekeeping Magazine since 1975. Dr. Martha Bohachevsky-Chomiak became one of four vice presidents of the NCW/USA. The UNWLA has been a member of this prestigious organization since 1952. Every UNWLA president auto matically becomes an NCW board member, and repre sentatives of UNWLA participate in Board Meetings. • UNWLA National Board meeting will be held No vember 1-2, 1986 in New York at UNWLA Headquarters. This meeting is mandatory for all Board Members. • UNWLA Branches, who are members of the Ukra inian Museum of New York received a notice of the An nual Meeting along with proxy forms. All Branches were instructed to either send a delegate to the Museum’s meeting or return the completed form. Unfortunately, the majority of Branches failed to comply. We ask that in the future Branches make an effort to follow through, so that UNWLA will be able to continue to have an influence in shaping the future of the Ukrainian Museum. UNWLA REGIONAL COUNCIL PRESIDENTS* CONFERENCE The conference for Regional Council Presidents was held May 17-18, 1986 in UNWLA Headquarters in New York. These weekend deliberations attended by all UNWLA Regional Council Presidents, members of the Executive Board and committee chairpersons focused on all aspects of the organization. The President of the UNWLA Iwanna Rozankowsky presented a very infor mative talk titled “Annual Branch Reports — a Reflec tion of the Work of the UNWLA”. Afterwords each pres ident gave a report not only of her particular region’s accomplishments in 1985, but about the hardships encountered in implementing UNWLA programs and plans. Discussion centered on committee work and var ious projects important to the organization. Included in this was the XXI UNWLA Convention scheduled for May 23-25, 1987 in Cleveland, Ohio. Nadia Deychakiwsky, Convention Committee Chairman, presented a detailed plan and program for the forthcoming Convention. Irene Chaijkowsky, editor of the Convention Yearbook, re ported the progress she’s made in her undertaking. From both women’s reports it was apparent how much detailed planning is involved, and plans are well under way for a very successful 1987 Convention. Other reports and plans for the future were pres ented by the following committee chairmans: Liubow Volynetz — Museum and Arts, Anna Krawchuk — Scho larships, Anna Chernyk — Social Services. On Sunday, May 18 the Nominations Committee met to discuss the candidates for the UNWLA Executive Board in the next term. Following this, reports were given by Olha Liskiwsky with regard to progress and problems concerning the publishing and expediting of Our Life magazine. Nadia Nynka chairman of the planning committee for the Second Woman in Two Worlds Conference scheduled for October 4-5, 1986 discussed the latest updates in the program and aspects of the publicity campaign. The UNWLA participation in the Conference of the International Women’s Council held in London, England (April 21 through May 2 this year) was reported and delightfully recaptured by Iryna Kurowycky, member-at- large of the Executive Board of the UNWLA. The Conference of the Regional Presidents is a very important way for the Executive Board to keep abreast of successes and problems of the organization. It is also a means to foster greater understanding between local leaders and the national board members. ’’НАШЕ Ж ИТТЯ”, ЛИПЕНЬ/СЕРПЕНЬ 1986 27
