“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ГРУДЕНЬ 201 2 WWW. UNWLA.ORG 5 NORTH PORT VETERANS HONOR LIDIA BILOUS Ukr ainian American Veteran s' Cpl. R o- man G. Lazor Post 40 of southwest Florida held their annual installation luncheon on November 8 , 2012. This is a popular and highly attended a f- fair in the Ukrainian American community of North Port, Florida. An important part of this event's program is the awards presentation. Each year Post 40 s e- lects and honors volunteers who serve the Ukra i- nian American community with dedication — not only by giving their time , professional expertise, and financial support, b ut also with their hearts and spirits . This year, UNWLA Vice President for pu b lic relations Lidia Bilous received the 2012 Commander’s Award “for her dedication and tir e- less efforts in support of cultural, humanitarian and civic causes that affect the Uk rain ian Amer i- can community at large, namely: Support of the Ukrainian Museum in New York City and its revitalization. Public relations Vice President for the N a- tional Board of the UNWLA . UNWLA representative and Vice Pres i- dent of the World Federation of Uk rainian Women’s Organizations. Various leadership positions in UNWLA Branch 56, North Port, Florida.” The other recipients of awards for their contributions to the Ukrainian American comm u- nity were North Port Commissioner Jim Bucher, Col. Roman Rondiak (ret . ), Lidia Bilous, and Post Commander Ihor Hron . Klara Sczpiczka of the Ukrainian American Club , and Roman Kilar of the Ukrainian American Ve t- eran s ' Cpl. Roman G. Lazor Post 40. The Ukrainian American Veterans is an organization of Honorably Discharge d Veterans of the United States who are of Ukrainian descent or whose wives are of Ukrainian heritage . It is a Ukrainian American organization since it unites Ukrainian veterans who have sworn to uphold the Constitution and loyally served the arme d forces of the United States. For their service in the fight for freedom , they have earned highly deserved respect in their communities. Серед її зацікавлень — живопис (олія та енкаустика), гравюра, рослинні малюнки пастеллю і писанкарство. Її роботи виставляються та продаються у США та за кордоном; чимало з них увійшло до приватних колекцій. Адріана здобула ступінь бакалавра з ілюстрації та гравюри в мистецькому коледжі Мур у Філядельфії і ступінь маґістра в Мангеттенвіл Коледжі. Вона викладає мистецтво у школах, а також проводить майстер - кл я си з писанкарства та гравюри в мистецьких центрах і приватно. OUR COVER ART IST Adriana Kulczycky is a practicing artist living and teaching in Westchester County, NY. Her areas of interest include painting in oil and encaustic, printmaking, botanical pastel drawings, and Ukrainian egg design. Her work is exhibited and sold nationally and internatio nally, and is hel d in many private colle c- tions. Adriana earned her BFA in Illustration and Printmaking from Moore College of Art in Philade l- phia, and her M A in teaching from Manhattanville College. She is a substitute art teacher in the Katonah Lewisboro school district, and teaches egg design and printmaking workshops in private classes and art centers in Westchester.
