“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ЛЮТИЙ 2020 WWW. UNWLA .ORG 25 his passion and his extensive knowledge of the subject matter. A recipient of many awards, Dr. Snyder has published more than ten books and numerous articles. H e speaks five languages, including Ukrainian . In researchi ng the Holo do - mor, Professor Snyder accessed previously seal - ed archives, available only after Ukrainian in - depen dence, and was able to read and translate ori - ginal documents. We tested his Ukrainian at a private luncheon and he passed with flying colors! Following the lec - ture, there was a lively Q & A session. Many attendees brought copies of Dr. Snyder’s much acclaimed book, B lood - lands , which he graci - ously signed. A lovely cocktail reception was then held for all who attended. Our Holodomor Exhibit was a n enormous undertaking , requiring not only hours of re - search, work, and meet - ings, but also financing , and we must give credit where credit is due . We are grateful for help received in the initial planning from Marta Baziuk, Executive Director of the Holodomor Resea rch and Education Consortium of the University of Alberta, Canada, as well as the League of Ukrainian Canadians, the Canadian Holodomor Awareness Tour, and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress for materials used in the exhibit. The Holocaust Museum and Cohen Ed ucational Center were kind and generous in sharing some of the costs. We are also extremely grateful to the UNWLA Executive Com mittee and to our UNWLA sisters of Branch 56 of North Port for their most generous financial and moral support! We a lso extend o ur thank s to the Chicago Heritage Foun dation, the Florida Chapter of the U.S. Committee for Ukrainian Holodomor - Ge nocide Awar eness Co - m mittee, and the Iwa - syszyn - Evans Family ( whose mother, Maria, was a Holodomor sur - vivor ) for their generous contribut ions. There were many other donors, too many to list. Our most sincere gratitude for your generosity and support! “Mnohaya Lita” to all! Once our exhibit closes, Branch 136 is wil ling to lend our panels for display in appropriate venues. If you are interested, p lease contact Ha l yna Traversa at htraversa@gmail.com .
