“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ЛЮТИЙ 2020 WWW. UNWLA.ORG 1 3 In November of 2019, the UNWLA was invited to support the digitization of Jones’ diaries, notebooks and photographs in partnership with the Ukrainian Canadian Civil Liberties Foundation (UCCLF) and the Temerty Family Foundation. Professor L ubomyr Yaroslav Luciuk, a Canadian scholar and author of books and articles on political geography and Ukrainian history who is currently a full professor at the Royal Military College of Canada and senior researcher at the UCCLF, extended the invitation and, after examining the details, the UNWLA Executive unanimously approved. The Memorandum of Understanding between The National Library of Wales, the UCCLF and the UNWLA was signed by the UNWLA President on December 29, 2019. Our official repre sentative for this project will be Oksana Lodziuk, National Social Media Chair and NJ Regional Council President. The goal is to have the project completed by May 2020. As worded in the memorandum of understanding, the UNWLA, the UCCLF and the Temerty Fa mily Foundation will be acknowledged publicly for their support both at the National Library of Wales and through an appropriate credit page attached to the collection , which will be made accessible through the l ibrary’s website. The total cost for the preparation, digitization, ingest and sharing of the collection will be 26,463 pounds sterling; the UNWLA will be contributing 20,463 pounds, making our organization the major supporter of this project. The l ibrary will also make this information available to other institutions (to be chosen by Professor Luciuk and l ibrary directors .) The UNWLA Executive is proud and excited to have this opportunity to further its important role in keeping alive the memory of those who perished and suffered during the Great Famine of 1932 – 19 33. Our organization is determined to be an important contributor to the memorialization of the truth about the Holodomor. Наша обкладинка Г. Севрук народилася 18 - го травня 1929 - го р. у Самарканді. (Богдан Мисяга, Г алина Севрук: Альбом - монографія , Київ, Вид - во «Смолоскип» , 2011 . ) From the Editors Deadlines. Producing a bilingual monthly magazine is a complex m atter that requires extensive cooperation and coordination between and among authors, photographers, editors, and Computoprint. Editing and layout take time and effort and it is for this reason that we set deadlines for materials to be published in any giv en month. Materials submitted later than the designated deadline wreak havoc on the production process and often create unnecessary additional work for all concerned. Please note that all materials (articles, photos, artwork) for any given issue of the mag azine must be received by the editors by the 5 th of the month preceding the month of publication. Materials received after this deadline may be bumped to the next issue. Rena ming your photos . Please do not send photos named JPG126XYZ324 or something similar. ALL photos should be renamed and numbered, preferably in the sequence you would like them to appear in article. For example, #1 Branch 489, #2 Bran ch 489, #3 Branch 489 , or some other syste m that makes it easy to identify what the photos are intended to illustrate and where they belong.
