chair of public relations in WFUWO; organized an inter regional conference in Buffalo, NY; was in charge of the competition sponsored by the Kowaliw Foundation. Marta Bohachevsky-Chomiak, Public Relations Chair; maintained contacts with women in Ukraine. Took part in various American and Ukrainian political and community actions in Washington. Lidia Bilous, Member at large: reported on her activ ities working with the Sabre Foundation on the project Hope. Standing Committee Chairs reported the following: Iryna Rusnak, museum/art — organized an inter regional conference in Buffalo, NY. Was active in organ izing community groups to support The Ukrainian Mu seum. Olha Trytiak, education — was active in organizing day care centers. Collected children’s books for the library and is planning to organize an exhibition in Ukraine of books published by the diaspora. Organized a competition of published works for children. Three winners were announced. Lidia Chernyk, welfare — a new fund has been created “Mama — 86’’ which works in cooperation with the Green World. The collection of vitamins and dried fruti is proceeding well. Anna Krawchuk, scholarship — UNWLA’s scholar ship program is being expanded in Ukraine and in other countries. Chrystia Navrocky, press — provided timely infor mation in her column “News from Headquarters.” Wrote an article about the use of mass information (OUR LIFE, No. 8, 1991). Organized an inter-regional conference in New Jersey. Evhenia Novakivsky presented the report of the Auditing Committee. By-laws Committee chair Ivanna Ratych informed that a committee has been formed to propose an amendment with reference to UNWLA’s retired members. All matters pertaining to this project and to other changes in the organization’s by-laws must be pres ented in writing by November 1992 prior to the meeting of the National Board. Marta Danyluk presented a preliminary budget for 1992 whcih was accepted by the assembly. It was decided to hold UNWLA’s XXIII Convention in spring 1993 at the Soyuzivka Resort. The recognition and distinction of branches will be governed by require ments adopted in the resolutions of the National Board meeting of 1990 (OUR LIFE, No. 1, 1991). This report is based on the report provided by Chrystia Navrocky, UNWLA‘s Press Chair (OUR LIFE, 1, 1991, page 9-10). RESOLUTIONS OF THE NATIONAL BOARD Meeting held in November, 1991 1. Uphold the resolutions adopted at previous meeting of the National Board concerning membership drives and the organization of new branches. 2. In view of the fact that OUR LIFE will be celebrat ing its 50th anniversary in 1993, it is necessary to: 1) increse donations to the Press Fund; b) attempt to reach a sum of $100,000 in the reserve fund in order for the interest to be sub stantial and useful; c) invite sponsorship of OUR LIFE pages ($250). Regional and branch press chairs are urged to inform the public about the work of the organization through the general print media. It was decided to revive the “Regional chronicle.” All materials must reach the editorial office by the end of March. The articles will be published consecutively each month. 3. Aid to Ukraine should be offered concurrently with the development of UNWL’s projects in Ukraine which will help the organization to sustain itself. All wel fare activities must be coordinated through the welfare standing committee of UNWLA. 4. Community groups will be organized to support the Ukrainian Museum in New York City. Buttons with the Museum logo, can be ordered at the Museum and sold at fundraising events, proceeds of which will sup port the institution. Organize a Museum membership drive in communities. 5. Branches and regions are urged to take part in American political life and to work in American women’s organizations. Membership is asked to urge political leaders to recognize Ukraine’s political independence. Encourage the younger members of UNWLA to work in public relations projects. 6. All are asked to support the collection of child ren’s literature, slated for an exhibition in Ukraine. 7. Membership is asked to offer financial support and cooperation for the upcoming VI WFUWO Con gress to be held in Toronto in 1992. 8. Continue to seek sponsors for UNWLA’s scholar ships.
