Події роману провідного українського письменника Юрія Винничука розгортаються у двох сюжетних зрізах. У довоєнному Львові та в часи Другої світової війни четверо друзів — українець, поляк, німець і єврей, батьки яких були бійця- ми армії УНР і загинули 1921 р. під Базаром, пережива- ють різноманітні пригоди, закохуються, воюють, але за будь-яких катаклізмів не зраджують своєї дружби. «Tango of Death» by Yuri Vynnychuk is a novel about Lviv in the 1930s. The work deals with the fate of four rebel fam - ilies: Ukrainian, German, Polish and Jewish. It is a fascinat - ing story full of adventures, ranging from the search for an ancient manuscript to the mystery of the "Tango of Death" performed by prisoners at the Yaniv concentration camp in Lviv. The book has become an instant classic of Ukrainian lit - erature and has been nominated and won numerous literary prices, including among others prestigious BBC Ukrainian Book of the Year (2012), Bukvoid's Book of the Year in fiction (2012), and Jan Michalski Prize (2017). «Польові дослідження з українського сексу» — це ро - ман сучасної авторки Оксани Забужко, що став сенсаці- єю 1996 р. Попри провокаційну назву, ідеї цього роману зосереджуються на національній історії, ідентичности та особистих блуканнях героїв, що висловлені в еротич- ній нарації; в оповіді геть нового типу, якого ще не знала українська публіка. Called “the most influential Ukrainian book for the 15 years of independence”, Oksana Zabuzhko’s «Fieldwork in Ukraini - an Sex» became an international phenomenon when it shot to number one on the Ukrainian bestseller list and remained there throughout the 1990s. The novel is narrated in first-per - son streams of thought by a sharp-tongued poet with an irreverently honest voice. She is visiting professor of Slavic studies at Har - vard and her exposure to American values and behaviors conspires with her yearning to break free from Ukrainian conventions. In her despair over a recently ended affair, she turns her attention to the details of her lover’s abusive behavior. In detailing the power her Ukrainian lover wielded over her, and in admitting the underlying rea - sons for her attraction to him, she begins to see the chains that have defined her as a Ukrainian woman – and in doing so, ex - poses and calls into question her country’s culture of fear and repression at the very time that it wrestled its way toward inde - pendence. «Шалені авторки.
