L'viv Radio Reports on the UNWLA's Collaboration with Hospital #8 The President of the L’viv branch of the Ukrainian Women's League of Ukraine, Olya Pastu - shenko, recently shared with us the local radio report on an aspect of the UNWLA’ s joint project wi th Doctors Collaborating to Help Children (DCtoHC) — the purchase of new medical equipm ent for the Burn Care Unit at L’ viv hospital #8. The unit has received a new surgical microscope, bed side cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps for controlled delivery o f nutrients and medications into a patient' s body . The doctors interviewed for the radio report, including the Head of the Burn Care Unit, Dr. Vasyl Savchyn, expressed their enthu siasm over being able to give their patients higher quality care using this new equipment. The medical supplies were purchased with the funds from a Rotary International matching grant, which was obtain ed largely because of the UNWLA’ s involvement. Dr. Gennadiy Fuzaylov, DCtoHC Pre s- ident, applied for the grant and en listed the UNWLA as well as the Boston Rotary club to raise the first $10,000 required by the grant. The UNWLA donated $6,000 . The report also mentioned the UNWLA’s earlier donations of equipment to the Burn Care Unit and outlined other aspects of the UNW LA/DCtoHC partnership, including their plans for the Learning Center at the Burn Care Unit and possible future medical personnel exchanges.
