UNWLA .ORG 31 Ukrainian Designer to Be Showcased at Philadelphia Regional Council Fundraiser by Petrusia Sawchak, pre ss secretary Tetyana Paliy combines traditional Ukrainian embroidery with modern colors and fabrics to produce a stunning new look. Tetyana Paliy’s de- signs, for both men and women, are perfect for unique wed- ding or other special occa- sion a ttire. As part of its 80 th anniversary celebrations, UN- WLA’s Philadelphia Regional Council will be presenting a unique Vyshyvanka Couture Fashion Show featuring Ukrain- ian designer Tetyana Paliy. A native of Lviv, Ms. Paliy creates her unique fashions by combining traditional Ukrainian embroidery patterns with modern designs to pro- duce a captivating and charismatic ensemble for the wearer. She uses many different fabrics including lightweight luxurious silk, intricate lace, Italian fabrics, and homespun cloth. Some of her creations include bold florals in rich hues of red, pink, lavender, and purple shades that can be both whimsical and elegant. The event will be held at St. Michael’s Parish Hall located on the spacious grounds at St. Michael the Archan gel Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1013 Fox Chase Road, in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, on Satur- day, October 20, 2018. The festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with a reception and an exhibit of wearable art created by Nataliya Stasiv and Zoriana Sokhatska and sponso red by Branch 67 of UNWLA. The exhibit will be followed by a fashion show hosted by Eryna Korchynsky and showcasing the creations of designer Tetyana Paliy at 6 p.m. Dinner and dessert will conclude the presentations. The featured fashions will be availab le for purchase. Tickets will go on sale on September 16. In accordance with the UNWLA’s mission and in light of recent events in eastern Ukraine, proceeds from this event are designated for humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Photos courtesy of designer.
