UNWLA.ORG “НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ВЕРЕСЕНЬ 2013 APPLE PLATSOK Larysa Stebly Branch #88 5 apples, sliced in sm. pieces 2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1/2 c. oil 2 tsp. vanilla 2 c. flour 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 3 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 c. chopped walnuts Combine apples with sugar, set aside. In large bowl beat eggs, oil and vanilla. Add dry ingredients with apple mixture and beat for about 2 minutes. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 - inch pan. Bake at 350° for about 45 to 50 minutes. APPLE BABKA Oksana Horajeckyj Branch #43 1 c. powdered sugar 3 eggs 3 McIntosh apples 2 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. finely ground walnuts 2/3 c. oil 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 tsp. rum 1 c .golden raisins Preheat oven to 350°. Grease 10 - inch springform pan. Core, peel and grate apples. Sift flour, cinnamon and baking soda, add walnuts and mix. In separate bowl, cream eggs with sugar. Add oil, vanilla extract and rum. Add flour, walnut mixture and raisins and incorporate. Transfer dough to baking pan. Bake for 1 hour. PLUM OR APPLE KUCHEN Anna Maksymowych Branch #43 2 lbs. plums or 1 1/2 lbs. tart apples 1 1/4 c. flour, sifted before measuring 1/4 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. butter 1 egg 1/4 c. milk, generous 1 tsp. vanilla extract Preheat oven to 350°. Mix all ingredients, except fruit. Press dough on bottom and up the sides of an 8 x 8 - inch baking pan. Cut fruit and arrange on top of dough. For Topping: 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/4 c. butter Melt butter. Add sugar and cinnamon. Spoon over fruit. Bake kuchen for 30 minutes or until edges are brown.
