Mrs. Mary Dushnyck (center) explains Ukrainian folk art to visitors at New York’s World Fair. ON NEW YORK’S WORLD FAIR Two visitors from Akron, 0., Mrs. Marie Klein (1), 505 East Wilbeth Road and Mrs. Blanche Sturmi, 670 Eleanore Drive, Cu yahoga, are introduced to Uk rainian folk art by Mrs. Mary Dushnyck of the Ukrainian Na tional Women’s League of Amer ica, a hostess at the Official Women’s Hospitality Center of the World’s Fair, located in the Purex Penthouse of the Better Living Center. The Women’s Hospitality Cen ter invites members of any wom en’s club to make use of its fa cilities, either as a meeting place or just as a place to rest and relax. Mrs. Klein is a member of the National Council of Cath olic Women and Mrs. Sturmi of the Valey View Garden Club. The Ukrainian Women’s League is one of many organiza tions whose members have vol unteered to greet women visiting the Fair and orient them to the Fair and to New York City. ELEGANT FUN-SEASON This fall’s fashion pre-view is most exciting, new and quite different from previous seasons. Suit jackets are longer, skim ming the hips. The hemline (for pretty knees) about an inch or so shorted than in the past, just above the kneecap. The tailoring has a more fitted, tubular look, but not tight. Many suits and coats are loosely belted. We find a return of the fur cuffs and collars and the side closings. Also double breasted closings are prevalent. Collars are seen on most jackets and coats. Important dresses appear mostly “after five.” They are low cut — front and back, and have an easy swingy feeling, like most clothes this season. The under-the-coat dress is very in significant, usually the comfort able “A” line shift. The color most used is “plum” for wools, and black for sexy little evening dresses. Hats are wilder than ever. Boots and heavy textured wool stockings in rainbow shades are worn all day long. It looks like an elegant, fun-sea son ahead. Olenka Litynska Santore FOOD EXHIBIT IN WASHINGTON, D. C. From October 3-11 the first annual Washington Internation al Food Show was held. The Kitchen of Nations was the Mec ca of all sightseers to the Capi tol during those days. A block away the aroma of the food was tantalizing and the people drift ed in on the tide of the savory odors. UNWLA Branch 78 was in vited to display Ukrainian dish es. In their particular exhibit area of ЗО’хІО’ the booth was beautifully decorated. Students and local resident young ladies in Ukrainian costumes moved with grace and smiling faces among the tempting viands to the delight of their visitors, some of whom had never before seen Ukrainian women, much less their food.
