Великдень серед нетрів Устеріцьких лісів (Спогад члена УПА) When outline is completed, use eggholder and dip egg into yellow dye. When desired rich ness of color is obtained after a few minutes, remove and pat dry with cloth. Take caution not to rub egg as wax will smear. Al so, wipe holder after each dip ping so that it -can be ready for the net dye. Your egg is now yellow and everything’ you * want yellow must-be covered with wax. Dip into red dye. Remove and pat dry. Cover parts desired red with wax. Place in blue dye, which can be your final dye.. (Black, dark green, maroon, etc. can be used for backgrounds al so). 7 he egg will be a dark blue, or if red was quite dark, the color might be purple. When you 'experiment with these elementary colors and see the results, yon can then judge future colors accordingly and also try your hand at green .and blue. As you know, yellow and blue make green, so-( if you want blue it has to be applied with a tooth pick in desired places and cov ered with wax after outline is completed on white egg, then dipped into yellow, otherwise, if done atfter yellow, egg will turn green when iblue is applied. You can mix your own green or purchase it with the othei4 colors. After yellow dye is com pleted you can dip into. green and -cover with wax as desired. If green is too dark, the red will come out a luggage tan and spoil the color wanted. There fore, to get good colors, I sug gest you follow the same meth od as for blue. In this case, however, green can be applied after yellow. \ hen your egg has reached the last color bath, the next step is to remove the wax. There are many methods, such as: melting the wax over a gas flame and wiping off. This method did not appeal to^me, as accidents hap pen here* too — you burn your fingers and the precious egg cracks and your heart breaks with it. This was my mother’s job and when the egg cracked, she felt, worse than I did. The other method was to place in warm oven and wipe wrax when it melted. This caused moisture and colors faded. Again we got our heads together and tried everything possible. How were we to know that Energine clean ing fluid works miracles after we tried it. Use with extreme caution! He sure candle flame is out before using it. Remove wax with cleansing tissue dipped in the fluid. Dip another tissue and go over a second time. This re moves any excess wax left on eo-or. Also be sure to destroy tis sues before starting next egg. When wax has been removed, apply clear nail polish on half of egg at a time setting on jiggers to dry and then doing other half. I wish it were possible for *111 e to give eacli and everyone a de mons tratitill and then the meth od wouldn’t seem so hard. Since that is impossible, I have tried to be as explicit a*s is possible in writing and hope you have no trouble in applying the meth od. Regardless of how that egg looks to others, to you it is a masterpiece anldi ai stepping stone to the next pysanka, for into it have gone hours of la bor. Good luck.
