Last year she gradua- ted from the South Side High School with one of the highest scholastic records. During her at- tendance at the South High зе always proudly asserted her Uk- rainian nationality every opportunity to acq er teach- ers as well as her panions with the Ul school com- ainians, the history, their culture and their po- litical aspirations, On several dif- ferent occasions programs featuring has directed Ukrainian songs and dances which were pre- sented in the auditorium of the High School. In this way she has been doing her little part in popu- izing the name ‘Ukraine,’ andhas endeavored го make it a word of some meaning to those with whom е into daily contact. esent Anne is a freshman at the Carnegie Tech School where she is pursuing the study of music with the hope of further develop- ing her talents along this line. She is also а member of the Ukrainian University Club and Ваз offered her services for the promotion of the organization. As a result she has been chosen to organize and conduct the club’s orchestra. Yet Anne’s activities on behalf of the Ukrainians are not limited to Ukrainian affairs, though she has appeared on the stage as ап accompanist and solo player in many Ukrainian concerts. She readily accedes to Ukrainian prog strangers. In fa seeks opportunities to Ukrainian dances and songs to those who have never had occasion to see or hear them. Just ге was her pleasure to perform at а banquet at which Governor Pinchot of Pennsylvania was present and who manifested an interest in her colorful costume. We feel that Anne should be heartily commended for her good work for the benefit of the Ukrain- ians and sincerely hope that she pend both time for their interest. We also hope that by her acts she might inspire and set an example to other young Ukrainian girls who are willing to do something for аїпе but who are at a loss as to just what to do. ‘Though activities of this sort seem trifling and unimportant, they are essential, for they serve io make Ukrainians popular and indirectly further their aim. Fur- thermore it is the only expedient method of instilling into the minds of the uninformed the fact that the Ukrainians comprise a nationality, distinct and from the will continue to ex and ener; separate refore it behooves young Ukranian folks to adopt _ this method and to popularize Ukrain- ian costumes, songs and dances. And to those who are fortunate to be attending school enough many opportunities for this very ptrpose present themselves. To be more explicit, themes for the English class, history papet lectures for school programs, arti- cles for school features for club entertainment, ete. But to all of those who wish to о in such act: have just a bit of advice to offer. Please continue to inform your- self regarding Ukraine and Ukrain- ian matters so that you might never waver or stand embarrassed when inquiring individuals ply you with numerous questions. In order to impart knowledge to others, you ust first be certain that you pos sess that knowledge and then strive hare it with others in the most newspapers, to convincing manner.
