Branch 8 Raises Funds for Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine Christine Fedynsky , Branch 8, Cleveland, OH In the January-February issue of Our Life , our Branch 8 members read with great interest about the var - ious UNWLA Social Welfare humanitarian aid proj- ects that are ongoing to help the people of Ukraine deal with everyday life during the brutal war. Every year during the Easter season, our Branch con - ducts a fundraising campaign at our local Ukrainian churches. This year, through the generosity of the Ukrainian community, we raised $2,000, which we are sending to support the Way to Life program in Lutsk. We were all touched by the cover photo of the ladies waiting in the food line and hope that we can help make their lives just a little better. On April 30, our Branch joined in one of the UNWLA’s cultural projects with the screening of the film Shchedryk . It was impossible not to draw paral - lels between today’s heartbreaking events and the stories chronicled in the film. The same resilience and determination of the Ukrainian people in World War II is clearly exhibited today. The film was well received and well attended. From the proceeds, we sent $1,400 to families of the Ukrainian film in - dustry who are involved in the war. Slava Ukraini! Heroyam Slava! We hope to screen more excellent Ukrainian films in the future.
