НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Липень-Серпень 2023 17 Branch 118 Celebrates Vyshyvanka Day in Houston Martha Noukas , Treasurer, Branch 118, Houston, TX Over 65 people dressed in Ukrainian embroidered blouses or shirts gathered to celebrate Vyshyvanka Day on May 18 in Houston. Organized by UNWLA Branch 118, the event took place at the Sawyer Ice House, a popular eatery and bar in the Houston Art District. Branch 118 invited guests to wear their favorite vyshyvanka and bring family, friends, and pets for three hours of fun, food, and drink. Jason, the bar manager at the Sawyer Ice House, created a special cocktail for the event, the “Hue-kranian”: a mixture of vodka, lemonade, and curacao, fin - ished with a slice of lemon and a Ukrainian flag. The cocktail was a big hit, and the event was enjoyed by all. Before it ended, everyone gathered for a group photo and sang the Ukrainian national anthem. Sla- va Ukraini!
