НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ • Липень-Серпень 2023 15 On May 7, we were graced with a visit from UNWLA president Natalie Pawlenko. In attendance were sever - al long-time members as well as two new members and a few prospective members. While we enjoyed a small luncheon prepared by our Soyuz - ianky, Natalie presented her report on the current work of the UNWLA and explained the organization’s mis - sion: Advocate, Cultivate, Educate, and Care. We also discussed UNWLA branding as we extend our work into the community. We were delighted to report that we had raised over $600 with our sale of pasky, and almost $200 with pysanky workshops led by our cultural director, Slavka Horbaty. These funds will be used to continue our support of UNWLA programs in Ukraine. After the meeting, several members accompanied Natalie to the Blessed Father McGiveny Museum in New Ha - ven to see their exhibition Rushnyky: Sacred Ukrainian Textiles . Natalie was delighted with the exhibition and fa - miliar with Franklin Sciacca, the own - er and curator of the collection. On May 18, we celebrated Vyshy - vanka Day by wearing our glorious embroidered blouses and shirts for a gathering at a restaurant in Milford, CT. Not only was this a chance to just relax and socialize, it was also an op - portunity to see and be seen in this public center of town by pedestrians, motorists, and diners. Several patrons commented on our beautiful outfits. We were also delighted that some of our newest members were able to slip away during their lunch breaks to be together with all of us.
