that Ukraine and its new president are facing many challenges. Ukraine still needs our help, and we must stand ready to offer that help for as long as it is needed. The slogan of our XXVII UNWLA Convention is “From all the Yesterdays Through all the Tomor rows," and this must be our mandate for the future. Our yesterdays have been filled with wonderful experi ences and great achievements. Our tomorrows, if we are strong and united, will be filled with new experiences and even greater achievements. May God help us to carry on the work that was passed on to us and to pass it on with pride to future generations. Setting and Achieving Goals for the UNWLA As we prepare for the XXVII UNWLA Convention, many of us are focused on the future of our organization. This future will be defined by the goals that we set for ourselves and on how well we achieve them. Experience has taught us that people who make good things happen don't do so by acci dent. They have vision, and they have strategies for getting where they want to go. They don't blame others and they don't waste time making excuses. ♦> Decide what you truly want to achieve. Keep your goal realistic. Remember that realistic goal set ting does not mean changing the universe. It means reaching for something reachable. ♦> Describe for yourself how the UNWLA will benefit if this goal is achieved. Who else will bene fit? How? Will someone hungry be fed? Will some one who cannot afford an education go to school? Will the Ukrainian Museum acquire a new work of art? Will one woman be saved from unscrupulous traffickers? Will one more person learn the truth about the Great Famine in Ukraine? ❖ Define your strategies for accomplishing the goal. Is this something that you can do alone? Does it require the cooperation or permission or participa tion of others? Who will be involved? In what way? What help will you need? From whom? How much? Is this something that your Branch or Region can accomplish alone or do you need assistance or sup port from the Ukrainian-American community at large? ❖ Explore how much it will cost to accomplish this goal. Where will the money come from? Who can be asked to contribute? What else can be done to raise funds for this purpose? Can someone write a grant proposal? Can someone plan a fundraiser that will be interesting and that people will gladly at tend? ❖ Set a realistic time or date for accomplishing the goal. Can it be accomplished in a week? A month? A year? Creating a schedule will help you stay fo cused and will help you plan your activities more effectively. ♦> As you work toward achieving your goal, evalu ate how well things are going. If your original strat egy is not working as well as you would like, find out what you need to find out and adjust your way of doing things. Embrace the challenge as a learning experience. ❖ If you run into problems, refuse to view them as dead ends. Be positive! Problems are meant to be solved. Our organization is blessed with many tal ented and resourceful women. Ask for help. ❖ Resist the urge to blame yourself or others for obstacles, barriers, or delays. "She did/She didn't" will not help. Instead, ask yourself, “What can I do to make things better? What can I do to make this work? What can I do to get past this hump? What can I do to make what I want to see happen?” ❖ Enjoy yourself. Accomplishing something im portant can be extremely satisfying. The journey to success can also be satisfying if you view it as an exciting adventure instead of as hard work. Errata. In the March issue of Our Life, we published a list of contributors who responded to the UNWLA's call for Emergency Aid to Ukraine. Regrettably, there was an error on page 15 of the magazine. We apologize to our readers and to the members of Branch 126, who forwarded a generous contribution of $1,230 to this fund.
