Good News for the UNWLA! Federal employees, thousands of whom are of Ukrainian descent, can now donate directly to the Ukrainian Na tional Women’s League of America, a 501(c)(3) organization, through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The UNWLA is honored to be one of a select number of international/national nonprofit organizations ac cepted as an approved charity by the U. S. Office of Management and Budget for the 2004 CFC program. UN WLA is designated CFC #2669. By choosing the UNWLA to receive their tax-deductible contributions, federal employees can help promote Ukraine’s national identity and cultural heritage and support Ukrainians within and outside the United States through humanitarian aid, educational studies, and research in Ukrainian history and culture. What is the CFC? The CFC is the annual fundraising drive conducted by federal employees, U. S. Postal Service workers, and the men and women of the armed services in their workplaces across the United States and overseas. It was created to consolidate fundraising efforts at all federal departments and agencies. By allowing employees to select organiza tions of their choice from an official catalog, and make their contributions through payroll deductions, the CFC has opened the door to more opportunities for giving to hundreds of worthy causes. In operation for more than 30 years, the CFC is the only authorized solicitation of employees in the federal workplace on behalf of charitable or ganizations. How Does the CFC Work? Over the course of several weeks in the fall of each year, employees are encouraged to contribute to the CFC cam paign drive. Each federal agency and military installation administers its own CFC drive at the local level. How ever, all use the same materials, including the catalog of CFC-approved charities. This catalog includes the name and a brief description of each approved charity, its tax ID number, website address, and the all-important four digit CFC code. The UNWLA is listed in the “National/International Organizations” section of the official 2004 CFC catalog as follows: 2669 Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (212) 982-2889 www.unwla.org EIN #23-6404061 - Dynamic, all-volunteer women’s organization championing Ukraine’s cul tural heritage, and providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine’s elderly, the infirm, and disadvantaged children in Ukraine and its diaspora. Employees can designate only a charity that is included in the catalog. Each employee indicates which charity will receive his/her contributions on a standardized pledge card by using the organization’s four-digit CFC code. The employee can make an immediate gift of cash or elect biweekly payroll deductions in a designated amount. How You Can Help The 2004 CFC runs from September 15 through December 1 and is a great way to support the UNWLA at every level. If you or someone you know is a federal employee, a U. S. Postal Service worker, or a member of the U. S. military, please urge them to support the UNWLA (CFC #2669) by making a tax-deductible pledge today. Publicize the UNWLA’s CFC #2669 designation in emails and other communications to your relatives and friends, Ukrainian church bulletins, radio programs, credit unions, and community newsletters. 16 “НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ЖОВТЕНЬ 2004 Видання C оюзу Українок A мерики - перевидано в електронному форматі в 2012 році .
