“НАШЕ ЖИТТЯ”, ВЕРЕСЕНЬ 2019 WWW. UNWLA .ORG 29 dedication in a manner that Sonia would have liked. It was a lovely memorial on a per- fect June day. This year, on another beautiful June day, Sonia’s UNWLA branch sisters installed a bench at Sonia’s Garden with a memorial plaque as a more permanen t way to remem- ber and pay tribute to a dear friend who was so much a part of our lives and our branch activities. Father Ivan again presided over the memorial service and special blessing . We gathered afterward (again in a way that Sonia would have liked), sharing a pot luck lunch and stories about our friend. Man y memories of Sonia flooded back : her endless generosity to all of us, her devotion and ded- ication to the community and her c hurch , to SZQ and to the UNWLA. The goal completed and the promise kept has brought mor e comfort to all of us and has helped lessen our grief . Branch 95 members with Father Ivan ( Photos by M. Daria was born in Chicago, Illinois , to Vera Jaworska Zachariasewych (a member of U NWLA Branch 96 ) and her husband Zenon on September 24, 1958. Daria brought pride and joy to her par- ents and shared a deep affection with her brother Andrew. In 1963 the family moved to Boston, Massachusetts. A subsequent move to California in 1968 afforde d Daria the opportunity to make wonderful lifelong friends with other young Ukrainians. Daria attended Ridna Shkola and was a member of Plast. She ma- jored in finance at California State University at Long Beach . In 1998 she met and married Bohdan Fedo- riw, a financial consultant , in Las Vegas. Daria’s parents, Vera and Zenon , later moved to Michigan to be near their son Andrew and his family, Dr. Christina Korduba Zachar and their sons Nicholas and Alexander. I n 2014, however, Daria prevailed upon her paren ts to return to California to be near her. Sadly, Daria's sudden illness and prem- ature passing cut short plans for their future retirement with her. Memorial services for Daria were con- ducted on June 15, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Cat holic Church in Hollywood, C ali- fornia . Daria's funeral was held in Chicago, where extended family members are interred. A memorial service organized by members of Branch 96 and attended by Daria’s parents was held at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church in Warren, M ichigan, on August 23 . We pray that Almighty God grants Daria eternal rest. - Marie Zarycky, UNWLA Branch 96 - photograph by Marta Kwitkowsky T he following members of Branch 96 have contributed $ 200 to Our Life P ress F und in memory of D aria Zachariasewych Fedoriw : Vera Andrushkiw, Zirka Clark - Zubar, Oksana Gudz, Lydia Jachnycky, Christina Juzych, Catherine Kizyma, Switlana Korduba, Olga Kraska, Marta Kwitkowsky, Christina Lypeckyj, Nadia Purnell, My rosia Stefaniuk, Luba Szajenko, Lydia Tara- schuk , and Marie Zarycky.
