Soyuzivka has been a hub for diaspora gatherings for decades, whether for visit- ing guests, weddings or o ther celebrations, a place where ethnic organizations meet and dance, a place where children’s camps are enjoyed through- out the summer. As a professional dancer, Pan An- drij was a member of the illustrious Pryma - Bo ha- chevsky Dance Academy, which has its home at So- yuszivka. He trained there and thus became a member of the expanded “SZQ” family as many others have over the years. Pan Andrij’s biography, posted on Tsvitka’s Facebook page is impressive: Andrij Cybyk is American by birth, Ukrainian by heritage a nd Gypsy at heart. He began his dance training in Ohio, where he studied Ukrainian and Character dance with Dave Wozniak and Markian Komichak in the en- semble Kashtan and Ballet at the University of Akron Conservat ory of Dance. When he was a teen, Mr. Wozni ak took Andrij to his first Dance Camp with Roma Pryma Bohachevsky. Two years later, he began attending her Dance Workshop at Verkhovyna, a training ground for the best Ukrainian Character dancers in North America , and was invited to perform with Syzokryli , her New York based dance en- semble. Andrij Cybyk has devoted his profes- sional career to the study and performance of traditional dance, largely of the Eurasian Re- gion. With over 30 years of specialized train- ing i n ballet, modern dance, and folk dancing, A ndrij is a recognized performer, teacher and choreographer of Eastern European dance, both nationally and internationally. He holds the title of Artist of Folk Ballet from the Virski School of Academic Ukrainian F olk Dance in Kyiv, Ukraine, and has taught for numerous organizations, including Dance Masters of America. Andrij has toured the world perform- ing the traditional dances of the Eurasian re- gion with companies such as Riverdance, the Duquesne University Tambu ritzans, Nai Ni Chen Dance Company, ALLNATI ONS Dance Company, Barynya , and Michael Mao Dance, among others.
