Члени відділу вшанували память померлої го лови поминальним Богослу- женням 7. жовтня, 1950, у цер кві св. Андрея в Савт Филадел- фії. Перша основниця і давня го лова п. Марія Горбова прова дила діяльність товариства аж до повороту містоголови п. Ю- лії Безґацької. Під проводом п. Горбової улаштовано діточу імпрезу із Захисту Матері й Дитини, яка принесла не лише прибуток, але й розраду для членок, які пригадали собі Рід ний Край. В кожну другу неділю місяця відбуваються сходини членок в Горожанськім Клюбі. Предме том нарад є біжучі справи. М. Княжинська, секретарка. ФИЛАДЕЛФІЯ, ПА. Відділ 48 СУА Товариство імені Ольги Ко билянської, 48 відділ СУА у Филаделфії, відбуває свої збо ри кожного місяця в четверту неділю. Голова товариства від криває кожні збори молитвою, опісля секретарка відчитує протоікол з попереднього зі брання. Збори бувають присвя чені справам вістей з Централі, звідомленням представниць, я- ких висилають кожного місяця на збори Окружної Ради, а теж читанню жіночої газети Наше Життя та дискусіям над нею. Впродовж цих двох років членкині товариства ім. Ольги Кобилянської працювали над збіранням допомоги скиталь цям в Европі, висилали пакун ки з одіжжю і харчами до та бору в Байройті — коло 1,100 фунтів, і за це в 1948 році за посередництвом пані Ірини Па- вли.ковської одержали від Жі ночого Об'єднання з Байройту дарунок-памятку гуцульський альбом. Крім цього товариство займалось суспільною опікою над скитальцями й на терені А- мерики. В 1949 товариство ім. Ольги Кобилянської о-бходило свій 20-літній ювілей. Ювілейний бенкет приніс приніс великий моральний і матеріяльний у- спіх. Для придбання фондів на су спільну допомогу, членкині то вариства ходили з колядою, робили „карт-парті“ і „бінґо“ та уладжували балі. BROOKLYN, N. Y. Branch 53 Our society, Daughters of Uk raine, Branch 53 of UNWLA was organized in March, 1938, and at the present time there are 32 members (22 active). Our program during the year of 1948 included 1) Three dances as well as a banquet and ball at which time we celebrated our 10th anniversary. 2) Christmas caroling by mem bers. We were successful in col lecting $313.30 which was sent to the Catholic Relief Fund in Stam ford, Conn., and the Ukrainian Relief Committee in Philadelphia, Pa. 3) A Ukrainian New Year’s Eve social, a summer bus ride and a Theatre Party for the members and their friends. Since in the past few years our profits from our dances have decreased con siderably, the social events of the members are financially provided for by the members themselves in most cases. Nevertheless, we feel these get-togethers are important and continue such socials for our members. 4) During this year we started working on relief packages to Europe. From that year until we discontinued this practice, we mailed a total of 32 packages with a total weight of 687 pounds. 5) Our expenditures during 1948 were to UNWLA (organi zation fund $5; dues $20; Conven tion fund $10; press $10) ; Church of the Holy Ghost in Brooklyn. Several advertisements in various organizations’ journal books. Gifts to ill members. Added to our Club Library. In 1949 we sponsored only two dances. That spins over a period of one month, our members car ried on a collection for the pur pose of adding to our fund for the mailing of parcels to Europe. Our financial outlays followed the usual pattern: UNWLA (Sec. Fund $10; organization fund $5; dues $20; press $10). Our church. Odveritisements in journal books. .Socials for members. Gifts to ill members. And during 1950, we held two dances and a play and dance. This play was a big success—but not financially. Our members, togeth er with members of our Veterans’ Post and a number of newly ar rived DP’s, assumed the roles of the play, and worked hard. Again as in 1947, the results were grati- fying, both from the performance as well as the entertainment end. In the month of May, together with Branch 21 in Brooklyn, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of UNWLA and the proceeds are to be sent to Headquarters. JThis summer as in past years, we held our bus ride. And later in the year, to encourage new mem bers, we sponsored a social for outsiders as well as members. In the fall our members took an active part in the Convention of the Ukr. Youth League of N.A. and served as the Registration Committee. Our financial outlays to date include : UNWLA ,Sec’y fund $10; organization fund $5; dues $20; Convention fund $10). Our church. Gifts to ill members. Ad vertisements in journals. Socials. In addition to being members of the UNWLA we are also mem bers of the Ukr. Youth League of N.A. Some of our members also belong to the Ukr. Caith. League of America. Locally, our Branch is a mem ber of the Central Committee in Brooklyn. The Greater New York Council of UNWLA and the Met ropolitan Area Committee of the UYL of NA. Helen Douglas, delegate.
