Supporting education and nurturing talented young people has been at the heart of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA) since the organization’s founding. This January, we were proud to continue that tradition by awarding a new round of individual scholarships to students in Ukraine – this time in the Poltava region.

In her remarks, Rector Hrynova sincerely thanked UNWLA members for standing with Ukraine’s future during an exceptionally difficult time by supporting young people who are talented, determined, and deeply connected to their country. She underlined that these scholarships are more than financial help; they are a sign of trust and encouragement that inspires students to keep moving forward, learning, and growing.

The ceremony was moderated by Vira Meleshko, Associate Professor and Head of the International Center of the Ukrainian Language, and carried a spirit of gratitude and hope throughout.

“We are deeply grateful to our partners in Ukraine for organizing this heartwarming ceremony and ensuring the scholarships reached the students,” said UNWLA President Natalie Pawlenko. “Supporting talented youth is one more way to help Ukraine remain resilient in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression. We thank all of our donors who made this possible.”

In the Poltava region alone, UNWLA awarded 10 scholarships totaling $2,800, continuing our commitment to supporting talented students across Ukraine.

As of January 29, 2026, during the 2025–26 academic year, we have already distributed 112 stipends totaling $25,475, but the need is much higher.

By mid-June, we need to cover 428 scholarships, as this year our Scholarship Program is responding to 540 student requests, an increase of 110 students over last year.

This growth includes 230 new applicants, 120 students replacing non-returning recipients, and 110 scholarships added through the program’s overall expansion.

Your support today helps ensure that no deserving student is left behind. Please consider donating to sustain education and resilience in Ukraine. 💙💛

Meet brilliant students from Poltava, Ukraine

We congratulate the scholarship recipients and thank everyone who helped turn generosity into opportunity – for the students, and for Ukraine’s future. 💙💛
