The UNWLA continues its long-standing commitment to supporting young Ukrainians whose lives have been profoundly affected by russia’s war.
This June, scholarship award ceremonies were held in several communities across Ukraine, providing annual stipends to talented children whose parents have been killed, are missing, or remain in russian captivity.
In the Talne Community of Cherkasy Oblast, 20 children received UNWLA scholarships during a ceremony held at the Zvenyhorodka District Council. The event brought together local officials, educators, families, and scholarship recipients to celebrate the students’ achievements and honor the resilience of their families. As a touching gesture of gratitude, the children wrote thank-you letters to their sponsors in the United States and participated in a memorial activity dedicated to children who lost their lives because of Russia’s aggression.
Scholarships were also presented to students from the Vodyanyky Community in Cherkasy Oblast, continuing UNWLA’s partnership with local communities in supporting children as they pursue their education despite the challenges of war.
In addition, UNWLA scholarship stipends have been distributed to recipients in Vinnytsia, extending the program’s reach to even more deserving students across Ukraine.
For more than seven decades, the UNWLA Scholarship Program has invested in Ukraine’s future by helping talented young people continue their education. Today, that mission carries even greater significance as thousands of Ukrainian families face the devastating consequences of russia’s full-scale invasion.
Every scholarship reflects the dedication of UNWLA members and donors to the continuous support of the Ukrainian people and the future of a free and independent Ukraine.
