The UNWLA has improved women’s well-being for nearly a century through programs addressing mental and physical health.

Our Babusi Fund has provided financial support to elderly women in Ukraine for sixty years, helping them address basic needs and healthcare while reducing stress.

During crises like the ongoing war in Ukraine, UNWLA provides funding for mental health services, and wellness programs, supporting women’s recovery and resilience, including women veterans. These efforts help women maintain stability and remain active in their families and communities under extreme duress.

Our rehabilitation programs for displaced and orphaned young adults (including teenage girls and their caregivers who tend to be women) build resiliency.

UNWLA also serves Ukrainian women in the U.S., and those who have sought refuge here from war over the decades. Our grassroots, community-centered approach, deeply rooted in volunteerism and cultural sensitivity, has enabled us to support women in engaging in daily life and form/ support a family.

Programs we support

UA Mental Help is a Ukrainian charitable foundation dedicated to providing accessible psychological support to individuals affected by the ongoing war. Their mission focuses on reducing stigma, ensuring quality, and enhancing the accessibility of psychological services across Ukraine.

UA Mental Help has become a critical provider of mental health services in Ukraine, offering over 31,000 free psychological consultations to more than 13,700 individuals affected by war-related trauma, anxiety, and grief. Specializing in support for women, the organization provides free therapy and legal assistance for survivors of sexual violence, covering medical costs when needed. Their team of over 80 psychologists, psychotherapists, and psychiatrists delivers expert care, while also training new therapists to expand access across the country. Through individual counseling, trauma-specific care, and professional development, UA Mental Help is addressing urgent mental health needs with both compassion and scale.

SpivDiia is a Ukrainian charitable foundation established in response to the ongoing war, aiming to provide comprehensive support to affected populations, with a notable emphasis on mental health services.

SpivDiia has significantly advanced mental health support in Ukraine through a multi-tiered approach, including psychological services for over 80,000 children via its “SpivDiia for Children” centers in 22 cities. These spaces help children and parents heal from war-related trauma through counseling, education, and community-building activities. Additionally, 106 mobile psychosocial support teams—staffed by psychologists and social workers—operate in 22 regions, reaching survivors of gender-based violence and displaced individuals in hard-to-access areas. SpivDiia also provides confidential online consultations for those affected by armed aggression, including victims of violence and frontline workers. Overall, the initiative has facilitated over 8,000 psychological counseling sessions, offering essential support to some of Ukraine’s most vulnerable populations.

Zemliachky is a Ukrainian public organization dedicated to supporting women serving in the nation’s armed forces. Established on March 31, 2022, by co-founders Ksenia Drahaniuk and Andriy Kolesnyk, the initiative addresses the unique needs of female defenders, ensuring they receive appropriate gear, uniforms, and support.

Zemliachky addresses the unique needs of Ukraine’s female soldiers by providing tailored military gear—including properly fitted uniforms, footwear, and protective equipment—to enhance safety and performance on the front lines. In addition, the organization distributes specialized “women’s humanitarian kits” that meet personal and hygiene needs, supporting overall well-being in active combat zones. Recognizing the psychological toll of war, Zemliachky is also developing rehabilitation and mental health support programs to aid female defenders during and after service, ensuring they receive comprehensive care for both their physical and emotional resilience.

All of these projects have been made possible thanks to our generous donors. Please consider supporting the UNWLA’s mission to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience.
