SOCIAL WELFARE FUND

Social Welfare Fund supports unique emergency needs that may arise. These projects are usually initiated by the UNWLA National Executive Committee in response to rapid escalation or large russian attack on Ukraine.

From 2014 until 2022, UNWLA supplied a steady stream of medical supplies from available funds.  Between 2022 and 2024, however, the inflow of donations (both monetary and in-kind) allowed UNWLA to send millions of dollars of aid in the form of external fixators, wound vacs, albumin, and emergency surgical supplies to medical facilities across the nation.

After a devastating russian missile strike on Ukraine’s largest children’s hospital, Okhmatdyt, UNWLA quickly launched an emergency fundraiser to provide critical support. Thanks to the previously accumulated Social Welfare Funds, we were able to contribute $25,000 to jumpstart the effort. This allowed us to act swiftly and purchase a much-needed sterilization system, valued at nearly $90,000, for the Children’s Cardiac Hospital on the Okhmatdyt campus.

Contributions to this fund allow to provide longer-term support to organizations such as AICM Ukraine, which can reach tens of thousands of individuals. For example, when Russia rapidly intensified attacks on the Kharkiv region and the need for humanitarian aid increased in a matter of days, we were able to urgently allocate $25,ooo to provide medical aid and essentials to the impacted populations in partnership with AICM.

Thanks to the generous donations to the UNWLA’s Social Welfare Funds, we are able to respond swiftly and deliver critical assistance to those in need in Ukraine. Your support empowers us to provide essential aid, from humanitarian relief to medical supplies, directly to individuals and communities affected by hardship. Together, we make a tangible difference in the lives of Ukrainians suffering from russian aggression.
