A SUCCESSFUL DANCING PARTY Our big- city branches are trying out a new experiment. They have begun sponsoring dancing parties together with fashions shows which model Ukrainian embroi dery adapted to the modern dress. These have risen in popularity in a very short time since the Uk rainian women not only embroi der well but also treasure this native art. It’s true that such dan cing parties require extensive pre paration. Embroidering is a stretched-out affair involving the selection of a pattern, style, color and of course, the tedious work itself. This, however does not seem to be any problem. If danc ing parties are scheduled for au tumn, the Ukrainian women start embroidering in the spring! This October Branch 43 of Phil adelphia sponsored such a party. And the results were marvelous! The show included some forty dress and ten blouse models, featuring morning, afternoon, and cocktail apparel and proving once; more their owners’ unques tionable taste. Beginning with this issue we will present these models to our readers. CLEVELAND, OHIO Chistmas Eve Supper The Ukrainian Junior Women’s League, Branch 60 of Cleveland, will once again celebrate Christ mas Eve Supper in the traditional Ukrainian manner. Last year the Holy Supper was a tremendous success, therefore the girls decided to observe the blessed holiday annually. As was previously done, each member se lects one of the twelve foods eat en on this Holy Night and does the preparation herself. Little did we realize what excellent cooks the Branch had. The table is ar ranged with the three breads and candle surrounded by straw. Af ter the opening prayer, we all be gin to enjoy the delicious meal ■— that too followed by Ukrainian caroling. This year Sviaty Veclier will be observed January 10 at the home of one of the members. The Ju nior League especially looks for ward to this day because it helps all of us remember the Ukrainian holiday and how it is observed.
