Calling All Members-at-Large!
Join us in commemorating our history and contributing to the future of the UNWLA as we celebrate 100 years of advocacy, culture, and sisterhood.
As part of the UNWLA’s Centennial Celebration, our MAL community will create a beautiful commemorative quilt, which will be unveiled at the National Centennial Commemoration in New York on October 19, 2025.
We invite you to contribute an 8” x 8” square featuring Ukrainian embroidery, weaving, or fabric artwork. Each square will be trimmed to 7” x 7” to allow for seam allowances, so please keep this in mind when designing your piece. Raw edges are absolutely fine!
Here are a few ideas to inspire you:
-
Embroider your favorite Ukrainian pattern
-
Use a design from your family’s region in Ukraine
-
Cut a square from an embroidered pillowcase, tablecloth, or garment
-
Combine smaller embroidered pieces into one square
-
Paint a Ukrainian-inspired design on fabric
-
Weave a square or cut one from existing weaving
Any stitch, technique, or textile medium is welcome — as long as it is Ukrainian or created by a Ukrainian! If you’re unsure whether your piece will work, feel free to contact Lisa at 307.250.4633.
How to Submit:
Mail your fabric square along with your name, state, and a brief description of the piece to:
Lisa McDonald
1415 W 29th St.
Casper, WY 82604
Deadline: August 1, 2025
Each contribution will be included in a quilt “map” displayed alongside the finished artwork, recognizing all participants and their pieces.
We hope to have participation from every MAL member — that’s 160 squares! If everyone takes part, the finished quilt will be an impressive 6′ x 9′ wall hanging honoring our shared legacy.
Дякуємо! Thank you for being part of this historic moment!
