Representation and Advocacy • October 23, 2021: Attended the Annual General Meeting (virtual) of the Ukrainian World Congress. • February 2022: With a delegation of community representatives, met with New Jersey Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill to discuss aid, Ukraine shortly after her return from a visit to Ukraine. • May 2022: Assisted in the organization of an international event that included Ukrainian artists and foods at the Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. • June 16, 2022: Secured funding and sponsorship for the documentary “A Rising Fury” by Lesya Kalynska. Attended the New York City premiere of the film at the Lincoln Center. • August 2022, 2023: Attended Den’ Nezalezhnosty events in New Jersey (Westfield, Watchung) and Albany, New York. • February 2023: Community meeting with New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez, a supporter of aid to Ukraine. • March 2023: Panel discussion at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey (UACCNJ) organized by World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations and UNWLA New Jersey Regional Council that focused attention on the experiences of individuals in Ukraine impacted by russia’s use of conflict-related sexual violence as a weapon of war. • March 21, 2023: Project manager for the Pysanky of Hope Digital Collectibles fundraising campaign. Created press releases, organized, and moderated press event held at the Ukrainian Institute of America. Authored an article for Our Life published June 2023. (Additional information about the NFT initiative to be found in Fundraising report). • May 18, 2023: Spoke at a high-level event at the Ukrainian Institute of America as a representative of the UNWLA. Attended by diplomatic representatives, leading members of the Ukrainian cultural community, the fundraising event was organized as part of a project to produce a documentary about women and their efforts in support of Ukraine during the war. At the event, a great deal of interest was shown in UNWLA; as a result, we attracted new volunteers. • May 21, 2023: Attended a presentation at UACCNJ by Prof. Olena Muradyan, Dean, Department of Sociology, Karazin University in Kharkiv. A beautiful plaque of gratitude was presented to UNWLA for our support of the university and of Ukraine. Provided information about the event for UNWLA newsletter and social media posts.
