XXXIІI Конвенція СУА 81 As UNWLA Financial Secretary during my term from June 2021 to March 30, 2024, we accomplished the following: • Created a new digital financial report form for all Branches and Regional Councils. • Compiled the UNWLA certificate of incorporation in New York, the IRS letter dated March 7, 2023, confirming exempt status for all subordinates, along with a form letter to each Branch confirming their tax-exempt status, stamped with the UNWLA corporate seal and certified by my office. • Filed corrections, additions and changes to the annual IRS register report regarding dissolved Branches and newly created Branches. • Reviewed all Branch and Regional Council financial reports. • Held 11 Zoom workshops in groups and individually with Branches regarding the new financial report. • Prepared instructions for the reporting of in-kind goods sent to Ukraine since the invasion. • Worked with Branches to ensure EIN number reinstatement. • Worked with Branches to achieve the proper and timely filing of the 990 IRS reports on a yearly basis. • Reported to the National Executive Board on the financial status and progress of Branch payments. • Maintained computer files on every Branch and Regional Council containing all correspondence with each entity concerning financial and organizational matters. • Attended frequent Zoom meetings of the National Executive Board since the February 2022 invasion in our efforts to mobilize and raise funds for Ukraine. • Worked to ensure that all in- kind donations from the UNWLA National Executive Committee to various hospitals in Ukraine from various donors in the US were properly documented with invoices and packing slips to ensure transparency. • Attend regular monthly National Executive Board meetings where decisions are made concerning policy and where donations will be spent. • Conducted extensive research of the IRS website for procedures concerning tax-exempt nonprofits. I was honored to accept this position back in 2021 and I am humbled to have been asked to run for the position again. I have been a member of UNWLA Branch 75 since 2015, where I was National Education Committee Chair for two terms. I was also the Acting Treasurer for the New Jersey Regional Council before accepting the position of National Financial Secretary. Although the invasion has presented many challenges for the UNWLA, I know that justice will prevail in Ukraine. My goals over the next three-year term are to continue to ensure that our organization remains the professional humanitarian entity that it has been for almost 100 years.
